Upper Croix Crappies

Like to try for crappies north of Stillwater next weekend. Where should I look? Should I Wait?

So do they go into backwaters right away or are they in holes?

They're everywhere.. In holes, backwaters, and everything in between! All over the place

Pre spawn, spawn, post-everywhere? Not thinking of drum?

Crappie=everywhere!! I don't know why you insist of drum fishing...those are horrible.

Try the backwater areas first but generally I look for the fish to be suspended along rock and rubble shorelines or near any woody cover that may be around. I have more luck fishing them deep then shallow this time of year but they will move shallow as the season progresses.
