I use "The Works" toilet bowl cleaner. $2.76 for a 2 pak at walmart. Have been using for years. I use a brush on a wooden handle to apply and scrub boat. Then just rinse off. It takes the hard water deposits off and if you have rust colored stains from fishing bog stained water it clears that up also.

Using a soap not intended for boat use might remove your wax at the same time. I have found the star brite products to work very good.

Soft scrub with bleach works well for stains but it removes wax.

My Ranger see's 6 - 8 coats of wax each spring before it ever see's water. I don't mind if it takes the wax off, though I don't think it does as the shine seems pretty bright after the rinse.

Speaking of rinse, what is the impact to the environment by using this brand of toilet bowl cleaner? Since toilet bowl cleaner is intended to end up at a waste water treatment plant, I would not be surprised if this stuff is bad for the environment. I was not able to find any information on The Works' website. I have heard before that toilet bowl cleaner works well but I am not using it if it is harmful to the environment as the water that drains off my driveway eventually ends up in my favorite fishing lake.

I use boat bling hot sauce every time I take it out or spray it off I wipe it down with that and a cham

Since I take my boat to a car wash to clean it. The toilet bowl cleaner goes the same route as the waste water from the city anyway.

Wish I would have thought of that......Gonna give it a try this weekend.

Thanks.

I use 3 bottles on my 20ft ranger. I start by walking around one side and squirt it across the top so it starts to trickle down the side of the boat. All the way down the length of the boat. It's pretty cool to see the calcium buildup foam white, you know it's working then. Then I scrub with my soft brush on a 5ft handle. $5 in the machine and select rinse. Rinse the 1st side and do the same to the other. Then I do the transom. Motor, trolling motor, splash guards and all!! The splash guards look like I just put them on. The lower unit looks new again. Sometimes it might take another couple of bucks, but for under $15 total your boat looks amazing and you're not sweating and sore from scrubbing calcium buildup off your boat.

A buffer with a little compound works great also.
