Hello Everyone,

I have been debating about getting a coyote rifle. I see there are a few options out there for calibers, and was wondering what a good gun to get and why? I am mainly looking to be hunting Southern MN if that makes any difference or not...

Slab,

Go to the Predator Masters web site and you will find the answers you seek. I just started getting into coyote hunting the last couple years. I have spent hours on that site and have learned alot from it. I have a pair of Tikka rifles I use. One in 223 and 243. What you choose is gonna depend upon what you want to spend. If you want to just get started for cheap. A Savage Axis in 223 and a 3x9x40 scope would be hard to beat.

Thanks for the information. What scope you have on your Tikkas. I have been looking then over close. They seem really smooth.

I Have been huntring coyote for over 40 years, and I have tried everything. The best by far is the 22-250 for range, and a 12 GA with buck shot for up close. You can buy a good Savage in 22-250 for under $350.00. One thing though, don't skimp on the scope. I use the Burris scopes on all my guns and in my opinion, it's the best out there for the money. Good luck, it's a lot of fun!
