tried this lake for first time yesterday after seeing dnr catch on HSOforum. was after some jumbos, covering alot of water. with the lack of houses, is it afar fetch guess this lake experienced winter kill, or did i just strike out?

It can be good at times. Don't get your hopes up that you will be limiting out. A larger body of water with very little structure is tough to find them. If you do find them I wouldn't plan on staying there for awhile.

Went out there on Sunday and had a slow day. Caught some nice smallmouth and a few small walleyes. Quite a few boats out, but didn't see many fish landed.

the nursery is growing. 8-11" eyes.  May need to start speed trolling 3-4mph.

Using winter lures has been the better choice lately. The other idea is pulling lazy ikes on a high three ways, the drop line is 3ft. back line 5ft. faster wiggle slower speed. Add a piece of crawler for scent.
