Lake Superior Setup?

Hey guys I bought a 17.5' alumacraft phantom with dual consule and 90 horse motor this fall. Anyways I mostly fish Mille Lacs but was wondering if this boat would be seaworthy for Superior (when it isnt to terribly windy) or is this a little light? From fishing Mille Lacs most of my life Ive learned to always keep a close eye on the weather as fronts can really move in fast on big water. Anyways Id love to try a little salmon and trout fishing this summer just seeing what you guys think. Thanks for any input!

Lots of 16' to 18' boats fish Superior on a regular basis. Main thing is watching the weather and avoiding days with east or north winds forecasted. During the spring you will catch salmon and lake trout by trolling stick baits on the surface.

Lakemaster Minnesota works on Superior and Navionics sells a Great Lakes and Maritimes card also.

I started fishing Lake Superior in a 16 footer. I launched out of Two Harbors or Mcquade. Perfect places for a smaller boat and you do catch fish.

Going right out of the Superior Entry is also good early morning fishing

Plenty big as long as you watch the weather, like you said. I started in a 16.5 alumacraft and never had any issues. Just make sure your motor is running in tip top order if you don't have a backup.
