Auger Issue- Lazer pro

PFUNK

Recommended Posts

I'm having an issue with my auger and am wondering if anyone else has run into this yet. I have a Strikemaster lazer pro with the solo engine. There are two lines running from the fuel tank, one is a vent and the other runs to the primer bulb. Every time I open the throttle wide, the line that connects to the primer bulb pops off and the auger loses power and I leak gas all over. It happened a couple times last year on the ice but after I reattached it it was fine. This year the auger is inoperable as it comes off every time the throttle is open wide. Any thoughts?

You pick up new lines from a hardware store and replace or use tiny zip ties on top to hold them on. That is what I recall other members doing.

I goggled the strike master solo gas leak and found there are issues. I bought a new solo magnum 2 hp last year. only drilled 2 holes before ice out.I wont know if I have the same issue until i can get out. But its an issue with some units.

although new,the decal has a mfg date of march of 2011. I bought it in February of 2013. Now I note they don't make this magnum 2 HP anymore. replaced by the chipper lite. wonder why.?

I'm assuming based on your explanation that the hose line slides over a nipple of sorts. Couldn't you use a small zip tie, tape, or something to fasten/secure the line at the connection point?

Edit - I hadn't refreshed my screen and failed to submit earlier, but I see the same solution was recommended above.

I took the air filter cover off my solo 2 HP exposing the gas lines attached to the primer bulb. Im seeing there is a need for getting 2 of the small ratcheting ties and put them on both the clear and the black hoses. This should prevent the problem anyone is having.

I had the same issue with equipment at work and did the zip tie method and it has worked for over three years. So you shouldn't have any issue in the future.

Just spoke with the guys over in Big Lake... sounds like this is a well known issue and the matierial used for the fuel line is not ideal. They must be using a new material now because he asked what color the fuel line is, and when I said black he knew it was the bad stuff. I'll be taking it in to them as soon as I have the time and it sounds like a 10 minute quick fix in case anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

PFunk, I just replaced one of my lines 20 minutes ago in my garage. When I had my lines replaced by a local place, they didn't run the air line up to the fuel cap (it says in thenowners manual it is supposed to be up there). I bought 1' of yellow gas line at NAPA and put it in, SUPER EASY FIX for $1.34. Go and get two feet of line and replace both of your lines. The hard part will be getting any pieces out of the gas that might have rotted off. That is what happened to mine when I had it fixed. Replace them your self, the black rubber gasket/grommet pops off super easy, just take it to napa with you, just make sure you drain the gas from the tank first. 45 minutes and really no hand tools and you will be done. Trust me, I am a PE teacher

Tygon fuel line is what you want, and zip ties work great to hold them on. If you don't already, avoid ethanol gas in the future.
