Question: If you had to take two hooks out of your tackle box to fish LOW for a week what would you take?? What depth were you at, and did you invest in a flasher yet?? If havent read already there is some weather up at the lake today Hope it levels off b-4 next weekend. Were you jigging and had a couple of dead sticks with bobbers on your last trip?

Joey "Those Bloody Kiunchuck Eggs"
All is well in Oak Grove !!

well if i had to only take 2 hooks they would be a rock and roll gold and a white and orange glow lure
As far as the flasher the only Flasher i need is Flasher,ND I guy next to me this week had one and all he said is the fish are down there but they wont bite The way i see it i just saved 300 bucks plus a trip to gander to buy a new battery and charger. dont worry the game is on come the 10th very good twee

Gordy: We were there on 12/28 thru noon on the 30th. I was back here on the 31st.
Headed up again on 1/19 with my wife. I told her catching fish is a lot of work and she decided to find out for herself. My son and 3 of his buddies are coming back also in another group. Maybe we can catch up at that time.
Also did not see Gordy bartending while we were there, is he no longer pouring drinks??
Bill

A gold angel eye and glow banana jig. Bounce both of the bottom and lift up slowly...a lot of times they'll pick it up while it's on the bottom and when you lift your rod tip up...you'll feel pressure. SET THE HOOK MAN!!! smile.gif

Fished out of Morris point all day yesterday. Fished in 18 ft of water at sunrise and then went out to 28 ft of water. At 2:00 we moved into 18 ft of water (during the snow storm) and as soon as the snow was done the fis were active. Between 2 of us we landed about 50 fish and took home 7 walleyes.
Gold angel eye with red eye caught most of the fish. Tipped with a head of a fat head.
Had a great time, and will be back later.
Hey Wheeler- It was nice to chat with you on the radio. Sorry I didn't give you a report when we left. Hope you caught lots of fish and felt AOK on Sunday morning.
Happy Fishing,
WOodman
[This message has been edited by woodman (edited 01-03-2004).]

Hey DOOP whats a Bannana Jig I have never heard of it maybe I call it something else. What company makes them and where can I get some? I need another rabbit in my hat when I take on Gordy on the 10th. I haven't lost to him yet in the Twee vs Gordy
Fish off. The real Gordy is still pouring drinks at the Riverbend maybe he has the weekends off I have seen him mid week there. He still looks like a Million Bucks?!!

Gill nets for Earl and Wicktoria out of AK.

fishing was slower than molasses. we fished out of morris point in about 30 ft of water and picked up 8 fish on friday. Fished a little farther out on Sat. and got 2 so we headed to upper red. Set some tip ups in the bay and got skunked there. Gotta chalk up the weekend for the law of averages i guess. Good luck dudes...

Twee,
A banana jig is basically a lead head jig that when jigged moves in a circular motion. Once tied to your line...the shank of the hook sits paralel to the bottom of the lake. I bought mine at Adrians. That was the only place I found them. Get the glow, obviously. Good Luck

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion. Ice was in very good condition. Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park. There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing. The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out. The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island. There is a short spur road going east about half mile out. The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes. Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher. The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight. You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas. There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off. Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them. Fishing was average. Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit. Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75". Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes. Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.

That's cute. My mother in law had all those little sayings. Her favorite was "Life's a betch then you die" so cheery. 😏
