Metro Spearing

I am going to be home in the cities (Champlin) over my winter break and I have never done any spearing on metro lakes, specifically north metro. I spear at college and when I am at the cabin, but anyone know some good lakes for spearing in the metro?

I would check out the spearing forum for this.

I have speared in some lakes in the north metro, like Forest and Green and have seen plenty of fish.

I've wanted to try Big Marine for a while too.

Medicine is also on the list for this year, maybe Chisago too.

MrKlean might have a few to add to this list too.

There are a lot of good lakes around the metro the problem has been water quality it seems to change year to year. One of my favorite lakes full of hammer handles and doesn't see a ton of pressure has been pea soup almost the past couple years, 3 years ago crystal clear. I would suggest go onto the DNR lake finder and start looking for lakes with high populations and go from there, half the fun is getting out to new lakes and trying them out.

I'm not a spearer so I don't know if Medicine lake is open to spearing but if it is I would go there. Lots of nice pike in the lake.
