What time of day do you favor?

When it comes to spearing I prefer mornings. Not too early, but that 9-11 range. I am most likely mistaken but if I can't go in the morning it feels like the day is shot. I have speared northern in the afternoon, especially the last hour, but my confidence is not there when I go out at say noon.

Anybody else prefer mornings or have I gotten myself into a rut!

Seems to depend on what time of year and the weather and the lake. Lake Sakakawea out here mornings and evenings are best any time of year, but later in the year its a circus of pike all day long. Lake Darling in ND is better in the mornings, but still really good some days right at last light. Most of the lakes I've speared in MN mornings are usually the way to go.

Pike are big time predators and do alot of cruising so any time you can drop a decoy down is a good time!

All depends on the moon phase. I do however love the mornings but, when the moon is like it is now that 11am to 2pm are a very strong favorite.
