Got out on the ice yesterday! Tested a few new items:

Navionics app: Can't believe how well this worked. Best $9.99 I have spent. I went to a lake I have fished for almost 30 years and by using the app found a new spot to fish. Small area dropped off quickly. Sat on the edge of the drop off. App saved me drilling a bunch of holes! We caught 4 keeper walleyes, lost a huge one at the hole and lost 3 others. Caught 4 small perch. Lots of bites so I thought it was successful.

Clam drill plate. Almost all the reviews I have read on this site have been favorable. I have an older 18V Makita hammer drill that I mounted on it. I use a 6 inch auger. This thing cut like a hot knife thru butter! Keep in mind that it was only 12 inches of ice but it was great. Drilled 12 holes in no time. Person I was with was impressed with how well it worked. And it is so light.

Marcum VX-1P - I have been ice fishing for almost 40 years and have not used a flasher before. Still learning on it. I do believe that I caught one fish sat due to the flasher. Saw a "fish" about 1.5 ft above my bait. Came up to meet it and it appears the fish followed as I caught a fish immediately after that. It will take some getting used to.

everything worked, caught some fish and my 8 year old had a good time so I call that a success.
