Anyone have any experience with these? Can they be towed easily with a snowmobile as advertised? Looking for a way to fish my old mans home lake (no ice roads) in a hardsided shack using a snowmobile to tow it around with. Not a fan of portable tents. Thanks.

I got a alumalite 6.5 x 12 with the v front in april. I haven't had it out on the lake but when I picked it up 2 of us pushed it on my snowmobile trailer I thought we would have had to winch it. When we got it home pushed it by hand on hard packed snow. I have talked with other people that use them on remote lakes and have been told they pull easily behind a snowmobile. I have been working on mine last few days and have pulled it behind my snowmobile up to garage and around the yard pulls easily. I will no more when I get up to my cabin plan on using it lake of the woods on the ontario side of the lake. There are no ice roads or snowmobile trails up there plan on pulling up to 25 miles one way. SO far I am impressed on how lite it is.

I have the 8x10 non v and have had the same experience around the yard. I definatly believe my 800 summit will pull it anywhere I want to go! Make sure you have the plastic runners on the skis if you get one. It will make a big difference!

Yeah I have the plastic on the skis I think that's a must. I am pulling my alumalite with a 2015 Polaris 600 widetrack. Mine is unfinshed exepct for a shelf in the v and stereo and a 12 volt plug for charging stuff also painted the foam white.

New to me this year is an 8x18 flat nose on 3-20' skids. I too had them put UHMW plastic on the skids.

When working on it in the yard this fall I was able to pull it around with a 1995 Honda Fourtrax 300. That was on gravel/grass.

This weekend I pulled it with easy with my chained Polaris Ranger on LOTW. The ice was rough and there was little snow but never did it pull hard. We pulled it up and over the sand point with no problem.

I have the same plan as huntercj - hit remote ice spots on LOTW. To compliment the fish house I picked up a Jeep Wrangler and a set of American Track Truck Dominator tracks. With the way it pulled behind the Ranger this weekend I'm pretty convinced the Jeep will tow it anywhere I choose.

This spring I saw a lot of grouse and even a few broods. I'm hopeful for the upland season. Didn't see a whole lot of mallard ducklings this year but good numbers of wood ducks. I think the Canada geese numbers go up every year.

My uncle and dad said they aren’t seeing any young birds and not many up north. Bummer Hazel is ready and Finn wants some ducks .

Just got back from my annual 3 day fishing trip to my brother's cabin.  My dad, brother, nephew and I spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday fishing 4 lakes.(Evergreen,  Grace, Plantaganet and Cass.)  Caught lots of sunfish, crappie,  perch and a couple walleye.  Perch on Cass were 10-12 inches. Crappie were mostly 10 to 11. Some 12's.  Sunfish ran 8-9 inches.  Walleye was tough but managed a 14, 15 and 17. My brother and nephew did better than my dad and I. They have much better quality rods and could feel the bites much better, plus they used gulp vs our live bait mostly. They did better using 3 inch gulp than smaller ones as well. I'm definitely investing in a new quality rod. Plus I need to get more confidence on plastic.  Overall a very good trip.

Fall lake has nobody there and yes you have to use portage wheels to get across. At prairie portage you don't cross the border, so you don't have to go through customs. However right next to prairie portage there is a Canadian customs building if you wanted to enter into Canada. I don't know anything about it other than it is there.

Grouse season is right around the corner, my Italian 20-gauge SxS sidelock is still available for trade. 25" barrels, ejectors, single selective trigger, great early season grouse thumper, and in excellent condition for a fifty-year-old gun.   Jim

I was thinking of the fall lake portage,  isn't there someone there too?    Or is it just portage wheels to get boat across? And if you go at prairie portage, isn't that a border crossing, so customs and all that?   I love Quetico BTW
