Not sure if anything has changed for this year. Last winter they had roads plowed to their houses and also had branches off of the road with plowed spots for guest with wheel houses or portables.

He didn't go too far. Across the creek actually to Bugsys on Bostic (old Randalls resort). Yes he will have a road.

So is Bugsys going to be the place to go now if you're pulling a wheel house up?

I can't imagine cyrus would change much of what made them successful in the past but would be nice to know where the services are best.

I talked to Roger today, he's not letting full size out till after the weekend. but he will be pulling wheel houses out for people then pulling them back off when there done fishing. as far as service Rogers the best on the lake in my option so nice to hear that he's still on the south end of the lake .he is working on his own through bugsy's on bostic.

Appears to be pretty much the same as last year at Cyrus. Their houses are out and their road is open to small vehicles at this time. Dining/bar opens tomorrow I think. Sure good food there. Anybody eat at Bugsies yet? Would be great to have more good food in the area.

Cyrus, Bugsies and Steve Sweet all have roads out of Bostic. Possibly Walleye Retreat also. Pretty much the same road until you cross to the big lake I would expect.

This weekend our access is open to small SUVs (chevy blazers), ATVs and other light weight vehicles. We have 14" of ice on the lake and most of the fish have been taken out of 20-22 feet of water. Hot colors have been gold, orange, pink and anything that glows tipped with live minnow on bobber line or a frozen shiner head on a jigging spoon. The fish are biting light so it's best to use a smaller presentation. Hopefully everyone is having a great December and we are looking forward to a great season!

Thank you, Lori and Jordan

We are still allowing only light weight vehicles out of our access and we will be taking it one day at a time. Best fishing in 25-28 feet. Action throughout the day with some limits. Anglers have been weeding through small fish for keepers. 22-24 feet saugers and walleyes filling limits with larger walleyes in 26 feet. Bright colors, green, pink, or glow working best with live minnow or frozen shiner heads.

Our road is open!

We currently have 16-18 inches of ice on the lake. As of today our road is open to all vehicles, wheel houses and ATVs. Our crew has been working hard every day maintaining the road, so please follow posted rules and follow direction from all resort workers. When you arrive to Cyrus come into the lodge and the office is inside the door to your left. An office worker will give you a lake map and help you with whatever else you need. At the moment we have five area designated for wheel houses on the lake. Please follow our black stakes with yellow reflectors. We are allowing people to park their houses on the bay in front of our cabins free of charge to avoid hauling them back and forth every weekend. Please do NOT leave your wheel house on the lake when you leave because it will be drifted in when you return.

Prices

•Pass to use the road $12/day/vehicle. $30 for the weekend

•Pass for vehicles towing wheel houses. $20/wheel house/day (Pulling a wheel house you are not also charged the $12 for your vehicle. $20/day total. You will receive a free drink chip for each person in your party at the office).

•2 scoops of fatheads in Styrofoam cooler $11

•Pack of frozen shiners $5.50

It seems like the hot depth for the best bite has been changing everyday. The last few days they have been catching most of the fish anywhere from 16-28 feet of water. Action throughout the day with some limits. Anglers have been weeding through small fish for keepers. Bright colors, green, pink, or glow working best with live minnow or frozen shiner heads. Please send us an email or give us a call with any questions. Thank you for your business and friendship! See you this weekend!!

One other thing about Cyrus....they will cook your catch and their cook does an exceptional job! Done hot and fast, not overcooked. Yummy.

We had a great weekend! We experienced temps above freezing which made transportation and fishing on the ice very sloppy. We are thankful the extended forecast shows it will not rise above 32 degrees! There is 16-17 inches of ice on the lake with some spots still as thick as 19 inches. We are allowing full size vehicles and wheel houses out of our access, but for a future heads up our lodge, lake access, bar and restaurant will be closed on Christmas Eve and Day. It was awesome visiting with fishermen, hearing big fish stories and other adventures everyone was getting into this weekend. Some groups would catch their limits each day with almost every group taking their limits home. Multiple gorgeous slot fish, some perch, eel pout and sturgeon making this weekend such a success. The best depth still has been wavering day to day, but I believe 21-22 feet has been the most productive. Hot colors have been pink, gold, green and glow working best with a live minnow or a frozen shiner head.

As always had a good time on the big pond. With the warmer weather it really saved on the propane. Fishing was good some were tight lipped yet the next one would hammer the bait. Not many lulls of scoping fish seem like we always had one below us. Saturday was a harder bite then Sunday all sauger except 1 eye. Looking to be back up Mid January but not sure I can wait that long before I need another fix lol. As always the food is great at the resort I swear I gain weight every time I go up. Go for their Patty melt and stay for the fishing lol. BTW we fished in 22'

The ice would be really hard on snowmachines right now. We had snow before the temps were above freezing for a few days. Now that it is below freezing everything is pure ice. Four wheelers would be the way to go until we get some more snow.

Just wondering how rough is the lake is it rough all the way out or just in a spot just wondering for when we take the wheel house if it's going to get really beat up or not thanks

It's rough at least a few miles out. Most of the main trails have been knocked down with drags but get off the trail and it's bumpy. Go slow and you'll be fine.

Fishing Report

Anglers working lines are catching fish. Jig in one hole and use a dead stick in the other. Good variety of sauger, walleye, perch, eel pout and even some crappies. From 4 Mile Bay, Pine Island and Morris Point Gap try 18-28′ or 31′. From Zippel Bay, Long Point, Twin Islands and Rocky Point try 24-26′. Hot colors are bubble gum, gold, and glow/red. On a dead stick use a plain hook tipped with a live minnow. The best fishing has been in the mornings and afternoons. Electronics are always helpful in finding those suspended fish cruising 5-6′ off bottom.

Our lake access is still open to the public. Please check in at the office when you arrive. There is 20 - 22 inches of ice on the lake. The resort will be closed on Christmas eve and Christmas day and we hope everyone has a safe and awesome holiday!

It was a windy blustery day today. We got 4 to 5 inches of fluffy snow last night and it blew around all day. We were able to get everyone into houses for a day of fishing, as the sun came out late morning and cleared up, turning into a nice day after all. We will be plowing out tomorrow morning at 7:30am and will keep the access at the resort open. Fishing was a little spotty today with the weather, but there have been a rising number of slot and trophy fish being reported as well. Best depths have been either 34' over mud or 21-28' from the Morris Point Gap. Best colors are bubble gum, gold and a red glow. The best fishing has been in the mornings and afternoons. Electronics are always helpful in finding those suspended fish cruising 5-6' off bottom. Have fun and be safe, we are entering a stretch of days with very cold temps!

I have gone into Basswood from Fall Lake. From Fall the first portage takes you into Newton and that is the easier of the two. The portage from Newton into Pipestone is the one with a hill. It is definitely harder! You also have to be careful when you go down the hill because the boat will pick up speed and can get away from you. Yes, you can get to Jackfish without going into Canada and there are signs letting you know where Canada is.

Dude, I already trolled that spot, nothing but slimmers!  😄 Glad I saved money by stopping smoking a while ago. It's free most of the summer now! Been calm and yellow out for days! 🤧

Bet you would enjoy a nice paddle down the Cahulawassee River, too then. 😏

Talked to my neighbor is getting ready for a trip via fall lake.    They use small boats with like 10 to 25 hp outboards and portage wheels.   There are two portages to get into pipestone bay, with the second one being over a hill.   From pipestone they can go around to Jackfish? bay,   There is a big sign to warn about where the no motors area is.

On the South End... The walleye and sauger bite continues to be very good with anglers enjoying consistent action.  As we transition into fall, fish are being found at various depths, but 25 - 32 feet of water has been consistent. Jigging continues to pick up as the waters cool.  Water temps this week are down to 64.  Top jig colors this week include gold, orange, chartreuse, and pink.  For some anglers, big numbers caught this week jigging with frozen emerald shiners on the lake.   Some anglers are jigging on or adjacent to structure.  Others are finding schools of walleyes and saugers out over deep mud.  Using sonar to find fish is helpful.     Spinners and trolling crankbaits continue to produce fish as well.  This is a transition time where multiple presentations are working.  As the season progresses, jigging will take over as the top technique.     For those pulling spinners, gold, pink, orange, glow red, or glow white has been successful. Adjust your weights to 2 - 3 ounces to match the depth and speed you are drifting / trolling. Trolling crankbaits is still producing nice walleyes.  Some goto colors are gold, chrome / blue, pink UV firetiger, and chartreuse.     More and more walleyes are showing up along the south shore.  It seems things are gravitating towards fall patterns where good numbers of the fish are both chasing shiners and moving closer to shorelines.  The bite has been excellent and is really shaping up nicely for the fall jig bite both on the lake and in the Rainy River. On the Rainy River... A variety of species continue to be caught on the Rainy River.  Nice current flow is providing fall anglers some optimism for this year's fall shiner and walleye run being a banner year.  Some reports of nice walleyes being caught in the river already this week.   There are reports of shiners in the river all the way up to Birchdale.  Things seem to be setting up nice for a great fall on the river.  Mother Nature will have the final say of course. Sturgeon fishing is picking up with cooling waters.  Anglers anchor up and use a combination of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig with a flat no roll sinker.     Find a hole in the river or simply mark these big fish in an area, anchor up and soak some crawlers! Up at the NW Angle... Walleye fishing up at the NW Angle remains really good. Fish are being found in many areas.  Structure, neck down areas as well as on the flats.   Some good fish are still holding in the deep mud east and northeast of Little Oak Island in the mud.  Areas around Four Blocks, and north of Garden Island producing fish as well.    As on the south end, jigging, spinners / crawlers and trolling crankbaits are all producing walleyes.   Smallmouth bass, pike and muskies are also being caught, both by unsuspecting walleye anglers and when targeted.  As the waters cool, crappies and jumbo perch are also showing up nicely for anglers.
