Just wondering if there's a special way to sharpen chipper blades

Yes there is but the most important thing is not to put a bevel what so ever on the bottom of the blade. The bottom has to be perfectly flat. If you put a tiny bevel on the bottom, the edge of the blade can't contact the ice. So normally you don't touch the bottom.

You can find videos on how to sharpen a chisel. You'll be doing that but on a bigger scale. Instead of a stone you'll need to up size that. Sand paper taped or glues to a flat surface.

Unlike a chisel you'll probably have larger burrs and nicks to get rid off. Start out with 220 or a file depending in size of nicks. Once you've removed enough steel to get rid of the nick you'll move to finer grit.

The burr on the bottom of the blade will become smaller with each change in finer grit.

A chisel has a large flat and if needed easier to clean the bottom without it rocking onto the edge and ruining all your work. A chipper blade has a small flat bottom. Unless you have a way to mount the blade and keep from rocking, don't be tempted to touch the bottom.
