Matthew layoffs

I have always liked shooting friends matthews but cannot spend that much for a bow. Now we may see some more reasonable pricing.

I think this has a lot to do with the bow market being so saturated. There are a lot of relatively new bow companies (Obsession, Expedition, etc) that are making a bow with just as good of specs, and in many cases better specs. The Mathews name brand, seems to be wearing off a bit it seems. I am interested in their new "No Cam" system though.

I think it comes down to a saturated market, and improving manufacturing processes. We used to have a Mathews and a Mission rep. Now our shop has one internal sales rep that does both. Does it suck when people lose their jobs, absolutely. Some of them were my friends. To quote one of them that lost their job though "That's business". However we haven't noticed a drop in customer service or quality of the product. The new mathews No-Cam HTR is gonna be a big hit this year there's been a ton of buzz and interest. As far as price they are right in the same wheelhouse as other manufacturers Flagship bows. They have the Mission line for a price point bow.

$1,799 MSRP that seems pretty steep for a bow

The No-Cam TRG is a target bow that's why it's 1800. It's geared to a very very small percentage of shooters. The pricing is pretty much right in line with what Hoyt is charging for their target bows. The no cam HTR or hunting bow MSRP's at 1100 so most shops will sell for 1050. Right in there with everyone else.

That's why you wait for them to bring in the next year bows most shops need to make room and you get them at half the cost or even more off. That's how I've bought my last couple bows , my Carbon Element was little over half off.

Very dissapointing when any company goes through layoffs. I don't know how many people they employ, but 35 has to be a big piece of the workforce. Mathewes has always been a high priced bow and market pressure is showing up, there is a lot of competition because their competition also sells very good equipment. The hard winter in Wisconsin certainly put a damper in the local market this year, who wants to invest in a new bow when the deer herd is so low.

LMAO.

It's not the bow, it's the person shooting the bow. Why spend so many $ when you don't need to? Because your favorite TV hunting show star claims, "I would have never killed this deer if it wasn't for my Mathews bow"! LMAO.

A lot of people spend the money because these are among the finest shooting bows on the planet. Can you still kill a deer with a bow that costs 1/3 of the latest and greatest model? Certainly, but a smooth, fast, quiet accurate bow is SO much more fun to shoot than most older or less expensive models out there.

BTW, I got a chance to shoot the new No-Cam this weekend, and all I can say is, WOW! Wish I could afford it.

The price reflects the quality difference. It all depends on your goals. If you want to kill a deer at 15 yds you can do it with just about any bow. Now if you want to shoot 150 arrows a day and dial your bow out to 100 yds to become as proficient with a bow as you can you will probably want to spend the extra money. Maybe not I know some guys who can just plain hammer with their old gear, as for me I like to play with the latest and greatest and I'll pay for it. It's just like long range rifle shooting. My old 30'06 drills deer out to 250yds all day long which is all I look for in a rifle, but I would expect to pay more for a 1000 yd tack driver set up. You can make the argument with fishing as well, can I catch fish with a 30 dollar set up...sure. But would I rather spend 12 hours in a boat with a quality rod and reel that I can enjoy using...absolutely. TV personalities have zero to do with it, enjoyment has everything to do with it. And I agree with you Donbo the new no-cam HTR is SWEEEEEET and they are flying off our bow rack.

That's why there are so many different brands on the market. I have shot a Matthews for many years and not because of any tv show or pro staff. I love their bows and they work well for me.

It's all in what a person wants and what they are willing to fork out, want a bow for less, feel free to buy one.

One can buy rifles for 5 times more than another brand, they are not for everyone but there are those out there who will purchase them.

If I am looking for a new bow, I will buy what I find that works for me, if it is higher than a different brand, I will still buy what I would like.

Matthews bows may not be for everyone, they have some great bows and their service is also very good. Again, that why there are so many that make a bow, pick what u would like.

Every bow company has their claim just like Matthews, it's called advertising and they all do it Slinger. No one said u had to use one, shoot whatever u please.

What I really wanna know is:   How’d get that lattice to curve like that?  Bomb diggity!

Fish Newton lake is great for walleyes. Everyone goes to basswood and forgets about newton. The late fall pike bite in pipestone is amazing and it’s a great time to catch the big walleyes are up there feeding too.

It would cost you 830 bucks to watch every game this NFL season under multiple platforms.   I don't have peacock or espn+ or whatever they want me to have, so I'll just have to relent on being able to watch a few games.  I refuse to cave in to their demands just to watch the Packers play the Eagles in Brazil.  I think last year peacock had the exclusive rights to the Miami/KC playoff game too.  I'm sure that will occur again in January.

Well it's a win, but it wasn't to Purdy with all the turn overs and penalties!

Oop, must be another Vikings game.  So far it's been a Prudy game, Viks!  😁

Another prediction.   Under the cloud of "Woke Inclusion" Just like the Mn state flag and the Mn Twins, the Vikings name will be going away in a few years! Their already making them look like Snow flakes!  We can't have the uniforms of angry Norwegian people!  Sounds funny but. Wait for it! 😒

Just sayen, not all the loyal old fans, can pay for the NFL viewing package!

New frontiers.  Expand the market; make more money.  Despite some PR moments, they’re not in it for charity.   BUT, they might want to take a moment and see how that worked out for NASCAR.  Not that having to buy premium channels to watch races was the only problem but it sure helped kill the fever for a lot of people.

Get ready. Any bets in a few years the average Joe NFL fans aren't going to be able to watch their local teams, unless it's pay for view!  Sounds like their greasing the wheels now.  There are 5 international games this year! ☹️ "The NFL will play a regular season game in Madrid, Spain in 2025, as the NFL prioritizes global growth and expands the International Games to new cities and markets around the world."

I have gone into Basswood from Fall Lake. From Fall the first portage takes you into Newton and that is the easier of the two. The portage from Newton into Pipestone is the one with a hill. It is definitely harder! You also have to be careful when you go down the hill because the boat will pick up speed and can get away from you. Yes, you can get to Jackfish without going into Canada and there are signs letting you know where Canada is.
