Ice Report

The westwind HSOforum says they have 3 inches in spots but not letting people out yet. Most likely by the weekend. I'm heading up Friday. With this cold the ice has to be safe enough to fish the break

We are sending Hawthorne out once the wind dies to check ice and stake a walking trail, if the wind doesn't move things around we should be open to foot traffic Wednesday. Things are looking good. *We have an Audio Report on our phone line that we update regularly*

From Westwinds FB page yesterday afernoon.

"We staked out a trail to 9 ft of water this morning. At 9 ft there is an "X". We didn't go much farther than that so beyond that point we did not check the ice. Up to there we found 6-7 inches on average. Right now we okay ATV or snowmobile traffic only in the area we checked. NO Side X Sides yet! Foot traffic is by far your best option as this early ice is not the most stable. The ice we did check looks pretty good and the snow cover is minimal so each cold day will help. Please be careful as no ice is ever safe...especially in November!"

Any way to tell if the lake completely ice covered yet? just wondering, with all the wind, whether there is open water that is breaking up some of this nice early ice.

You might have to wait for a day or two for the info but google MODIS satellite photo's. With today's clear skies you should get a good idea when todays image is available online.
