Japan vs. MLB all stars

Recommended Posts

JBMasterAngler

Anyone pay attention to this? I caught a bit of it on MLB network. Apparently it's a 5 game series, and the Japanese all stars have owned the major leaguers so far. And to add insult to injury (literally), Robinson Cano broke his toe. Anyone know how the final 2 games played out?

Never heard anything about it. Would have loved to see some live baseball. The local football teams sure weren't worth wasting time with over the weekend.

Are you sure it isn't 7 games they play? The first 3 games MLB All-stars lost including game 3 where they were no-hit!!! that is the game Cano broke his toe. We won the forth game thanks to a Justin Morneau 3 run home run.

It's a 5 game series, not best of 5. So they play all 5 no matter who won how many. It's now 3-1 Japan.

Game 5 is tomorrow morning 4am local time. Not sure if it's televised here or not, but probably won't get up that early to see. grin

ahh I knew it wasn't a best of series but I thought I read 7 games and thought that was odd without it being a best of series...5 sounds more appropriate for exhibition games.

It was on the MLB network, so I would guess they would replay it at least once. I'm a casual fan of the baseball world cup (or whatever it's called), but the last time I watched the japanese and MLB all stars play each other, Kirby Puckett was in the line up! crazy

so I guess they did play 7 games total and only 5 counted towards the series is what I was reading this morning. What the difference was between the exhibition games and the series is beyond me but the All-star lost the series 3-2.

I would imagine the players got some sort of compensation, despite this being an exhibition. Maybe they played the 2 extra games because it was financially worthwhile.

I've never been on the lake. Been wanting to try it for several years.

Been to Borden multiple times can’t seem to find any nice crappie holes, any preferences?

Fished Chisago Lake today. Drove truck out. Ice was about 18 inches, and travel conditions were good. Caught a walleye, sunfish, crappie, and perch all in succession to start. I fished right in the middle of the lake in the deep hole. Marked lots of fish, all within 2 feet of the bottom. They weren’t active, but they weren’t tight lipped either. Caught 16 total. Aside from 2 nice crappies and a jumbo perch, everything was pretty small.

Yeah, but man I bet the walleyes were on fire!   That weekend was crazy. First time I can recall Metro Transit pulling buses off the road. We took videos of the kids sledding down our ice covered driveway and down to the neighbors driveway.

Absolutely, we were pretty bummed out the day before the trip when we officially pulled the plug but the morning we planned to leave we woke up to the roads in the twin cities covered in a solid layer of ice so just getting out of town would have been hard.  Then we saw the amount of snow falling up north and it was obvious we made the right call.  It simply wouldn't have been safe to go.

I also had a neighbor who had the same issue with a jiffy auger. It was an older model so he didnt bother to have it repaired. He eventually replaced it with a eskimo propane auger.

If I fillet using option 2, I usually lose some belly meat. Option 1 I get all the belly meat but I take the ribs out a different way than most. Rick at Highbanks Resort showed me. I'll have to post a video because it's too difficult to explain. Now I'll have to go fishing!!

Thought I'd post pictures of what I did. I used 1" PVC pipe and designed it so the bottom of the portable is about 7" above the bottom of the skis. I would guess the sled doesn't weigh more than 15 pounds and that might even be exaggerated a little.
