Down looking at the Marcum Ice fishing units. I am confused looked at the LX 7 and LX 9.

I see that the 7 can be upgraded to a 9 functions but what ones I am not sure. Marcum site tells you a few things but stilled confused. Also site states you have to mail in the 7 along with $480. for the upgrade. So if the suggested price is between 650/699 for LX7 and price for the LX 9 is $1199 So is the upgrade worth it. Still confused

it's mainly for those who purchased a LX7 before the LX9 came out, they now have an option to upgrade. The $$ difference and decision to upgrade vs buy new depends on what you could sell your LX7 for...

Have not bought anything. Thats why I am asking is it better to go with the 9 and are all the bells and whistles used enough to justify the cost

The LX-7 to LX-9 upgrade simply adds the Camera/DVR features. I don't know for sure if they just add that to your existing LX-7 shell or simply swap out the entire shell altogether?

I've got an older VX-1 and it does everything I could ever ask in a fish finder.

As far as depth finders they are pretty much the same. Really boils down to if you want a unit that has both camera and depth finder. Both units would be solid unis.

Just checked, they replace some of internal parts boards that is why you have to send the unit in. Not real happy with any of the cameras I have seen just think I go with LX 7

You could look at buying a uses LX7 and then upgrade that.

Save you some dough. Since they are upgrading some internals anyway.

Load if your going to use a camera get the 9. If not go with a 6 or 7. I have a 6 and like it but will be getting a 7 for screen size. If you use mostly the flasher mode get the LX-5. Call me if you need more details.

Steve can't you just lean over a little closer for same effect. Some kinda zoom eh !

Looking foreward to more fall season over here to your west.

Repeat of last years winter ? No Please. I am seeing an unusually late and warm winter with near average precipitation and extended fall boating season myself.

With more snow around Duluth.

Jig jig jig... fiskyknut

Gulp crawler.  In the spot the walleyes were going in there was a pile of 3-5" perch that tore up the real crawlers.   Gulp crawlers took care of the issue and the eyes liked them too.

When we go to Quetico, barbless or mashed down barbs is mandatory.   To tell the truth I haven't noticed that we lose more fish with barbless than barbed.   Not catching muskies though.  Pike, walleye, bass, lake trout.

Vermilion might be down a little, but not much.  Your lakes might be different.

Is that a gulp worm?  I am not on Osakis but cant fish with live bait without the bass, sunnies, and perch hammering it instantly.

My parents were up yesterday and Wednesday and they did pretty good. Out in the mud in about 33-34 feet. Lots of boats were trolling but they did well looking for pods of fish and then spot-locking over the top of them and jigging with leeches and frozen shiners.

Is the water starting to recede on the lakes East of Orr? I heard it was really high on Myrtle. We're coming up to Black Duck in a week or so, just wondering if things are getting back more towards normal.

I’ve fished sylvan heavily the last two years. Done very well. Many nice pike, bass, walleye, and bluegill. For pike trolling shadraps pretty much any where will get you all the 20”-25” pike you want. Plenty of dence cover all over for bass and that is the usual bass presentations. And for gills in the spring the channel between the two bays was VERY good this past spring went three days in a row and got 2 limits each time ( two angles in the boat) and relesed many many more.  Also the panfish limit on sylvan is 5 per person so be aware of that. I was out there 2 weeks ago and did ok. Again two limits of nice gills and a handful of pike but it took a lot of work to find them. I’m unsure of the walleye fishing out there but have heard it’s a good lake. Im not an expert on sylvan but know a little so hope this helps ya out. Good luck!
