There's always a chance, but no, I don't think we'll win. ATL by 14

This is the NFL where anything can and does happen... ATL is a hit on Ryan away from being just another team without a QB... yes we have a chance but I am not picking our Vikes to win either...

Atlantas defense is the worst defense this team has seen this season. The saints D isn't that great either but they are much better in that horrid dome of theirs where they get all the calls.

I think just from the way Teddy looked last week that with a full week of prep as the starter he should be able to get some things done against this defense. The offensive line has to play better and ATL's d line SHOULDNT give them much trouble.

The Vikes d is MUCH better then last year and i think almost ALL of that is due to the scheme and coaching. We all saw the same cover 2 Leslie was teaching in action last thursday when the dirty birds put up 56 on tampa... Get a clue Leslie.

I think the vikes have a pretty good chance to win this week if they don't turn the ball over and can keep julio jones from getting deep on them repeatedly.

I had picked Atlanta at a work pool and just changed to the Vikes. Should be a fun game to watch with our "new" team....

About the same chance as an average person of winning the lottery...

This is the vikings, or the Chicago Cubs of the NFL

love to be there, but I went out on a limb for the Patriots game. Of course, that was when Adrian was still playing:(

Cards just seem a little too hot right now, plus we already won our road game for the decade!

Gotta love the eternal optimists!

Your star running back is beating kids, the starting QB who wasn't even good enough to beat out Ponder last year has a broken foot, leading tackler is hurt, starting guard and tight end on an already suspect offensive line are hurt and all this on a team that won 5 games last year and you "have a good feeling"?

LOL grin

Patterson vs Hester. Old guard/new guard? Should make special teams play more interesting to watch. Hopefully Hageman gets a lot of playing time so we can see how he has progressed. And Teddy's first start of his career.

At least there are enough storylines in this game to make it more appealing for viewers.

The second cassel went down we had an upgrade at QB. Cassel sucks.

Ryan isn't that great when he's not in a dome. The vikes D is very underrated. The offense stinks, but I mean... we have one of the most electric players on the offensive side of the ball in Patterson.

Should we win? Absolutely not. Could we? Sure.

Would I bet on it? nope. I'm not stupid.

21-17 ATL. Matty ice throws 3 interceptions to help keep us in it.

Here are a few positives for ya BigDave...

Teddy's first start...I think he brings more to the table than Cassel.

Greenway, our leading tackler, is out!! He's not a good football player and Hodges will show everyone what the future at LB will look like...fast and explosive!!

Our TE's will be just fine...Rudolph hasn't even had a 500 yd. season in his career...hope Marqueis Gray gets some time catching the ball in space.

We play at home!!

We host a 4 win team (last year) in the Falcons...

So, yeah...I'll take the Vikes by 4.

I'd be surprised by that. While I don't expect to win, I do think we'll keep it a good bit closer than that, mostly by virtue of the defense.

While Zim's pre-game planning leave something to be desired so far (and it's early, obviously), I think his adjustments are pretty good.

Guess we'll see, hopefully it will at least be interesting.

A nice preseason and a win in week one got many people excited, but this was always supposed to be a rebuilding year. We'll have to measure progress in more ways the W-L.

So far the positives I see are:

+Zim seems to put players in a better position to be successful and develop than past coaches.

+Our defense can create a turnover from time to time.

+Teddy looks OK. I'm sure he'll have some putrid games this year, but we started building for the future last week.

+Even with all that's gone wrong through 3 weeks, we still have the same record as the Packers, with a healthy Rogers, and that has to eat Sconnie fans alive.

You're starting a rookie QB on the 4th game of the season and that's a positive?

The starting linebacker is out and that's a positive?

You hope a player gets some playing time just because he is a former Gopher and that's a positive?

Negatives:

Falcons beat their opponent by 42 points last week

They beat a common opponent (Saints)

The only negative that really hurts the squad is no AP.

My guess is it's gonna be good with ATL coming out on top 27-24.

My wife, however, says the vikes are due, they're at home, and they have better looking uniforms. Vikes take it by the skin of their teeth 20-17.

Launched out of Copas today. Water is really low. And the wind was really blowing upstream (what else is new? 🙄) I had to run my outboard in reverse just to drift downstream in some stretches. Fishing was really slow. Caught 2 little smallies and 32” and 29” pike. Pike are sitting right on the bottom where cold springs are entering. Tried trolling the main channel, but didn’t catch anything.

So I figured I'd leave a report. I got up Saturday night. Problem is..... not much of a report other than in 10 years fishing this lake its the worst 2 days fishing ive ever had. I did get 2 16"last evening. But both mornings? Ive never fished so many thick pods of fish that would not go on anything. This afternoon I even tied walleye flies to try on a wolf river rig in the hopes of imitating bugs. Picture enclosed. I'll be up through the weekend so hopefully we get far enough away from the hatches that the bite gets going again.

If I were Moosebirds, I would move the ice cream cart outside like the beer carts at a nightclub. 80% of their traffic has to be ice cream related so they could sell it outside. If they have to keep it inside they could have someone outside taking orders/collecting cash and another worker bringing it out so that you don't have to crowd everyone inside. Heck, they could have a dockside ice cream cart filled with icecream sandwiches for grab and go!

I honestly have not even attempted to fish the chain in the recent weeks.  This past week my FIL did go on Tuesday to Trout and found a few willing whitefish for the smoker again but he said it got too hot to fish.  On Thursday and Saturday we went to lake further north and found a few willing crappies to keep us active but could not find any walleyes.

      Awesome report. Thanks @Joe

I've only fished Birch a couple of times so I'm no expert.  My best walleye on Birch is this 28"er caught on the west end of the lake in mid September .  Caught this one and several eaters trolling Rapala deep taildancers in about 25 FOW.  Since you are new to the lake I recommend hiring a guide for a half day.  If you want the name of a good one you can pm me.

On the south end...  Great walleye fishing this week.  Lots of limits, plenty of larger slot fish (19.5" - 28") and trophy walleyes (over 28").  The MTT Photo and Release Walleye Tournament winners had over a 9 lb average each for 5 fish both days of the tournament.  Lots of big walleyes in the lake.  Different parts of the lake have different things happening.  In some areas, the mayfly hatch was over.  In other areas, it was just firing up.  Fishing was better where the hatch was not in full force.    The go to presentations are spinners with crawlers or trolling crankbaits.  Nice schools of eaters on the south shore and up north around Garden Island in 10 -15' of water.  More and more walleyes also staged over deep mud in 30 - 34'.  Hammered gold with glow white and gold with glow red strong colors.       On the Rainy River...   Sturgeon anglers catching fish with the evening bite the best.  Fish holes in the river with a 3 ounce no roll sinker and sturgeon rig loaded with crawlers and/or frozen shiners.   Nice smallies in rocky areas.  Pike are also active cruising bays, weed edges and current breaks.  Walleyes out on flats and can be caught with crawler harnesses or trolling crankbaits. Up at the NW Angle...  Until the US / Canada border opens, guests can travel across the lake staying and fishing in MN waters.  There are shuttle services available and fishing for multi species has been excellent.  Check with your favorite NW Angle resort for options.   Fishing has been awesome up at the Angle.  Schools of walleyes on structure, over sand and on mud.  Nice walleyes 8 - 17' on the sand or 25 - 28' around structure.  Big numbers of eaters being caught.  The best presentation continues to be drifting and trolling spinners with a crawler or a minnow.  Pike and smallmouth bass are active in numerous weedy bays.

Yeah, wife took the grandkids to moosebirds for ice cream and was not impressed with the service or the covid precautions.
    • SkunkedAgain
Now is there a locomotive somewhere in the lake to find?
