Predictions?

I encourage everyone to say we are going to get blown away. I also encourage everyone to bench all Viking players in fantasy.

Aints win by 24!!

Cassell will b depended on for game management only in NO, after last week the only shot the vikings have is run, run, run and play keep away from brees on the road.

Historically there is no better situation for a team desperate for a in than to have the Vikings on their schedule. They may give up a 50 burger.

I like Zimmer as a coach and sorta feel sorry for him to have to work under the criminals that own this team.

What happened to all this?

I think the Vikings will be better without Peterson. When he is in the game the team seems to feel like they need to feed him the ball whether it is working or not. With him gone they will go to the pass and you will wee a much more explosive offense. This could be the best thing that could have happened.

I haven't changed my mind in terms of what I said about Peterson. With the new staff I was hoping they could overcome the shortcomings of the criminal ownership but now it is obvious that the owners are even more morally corrupt and inept than even I anticipated.

As long as the wilf's own this team they will be one of the most inept and dysfunctional teams in the league. It's at the point where the Lions are managed better.

But since you are the football nostradamus why don't you tell us a little more about how great Johnny Football is playing.

Weapons?

Aside from Peterson... Who?

Simpson? Haahaha.... HA! Yep his one TD as a vike scared the bijeebers out of def coords across the league.

Vikes make that putrid NO defense look almost average.

The only highlights JM gets are gimmick plays where he argues with a coach. At least he's on ESPN that's all he's all about anyway.

doesn't he know that QBs aren't supposed to run in this league?

Russel Wilson kept a couple drives alive including the game winner in overtime by running. Lots of people think he's pretty good.

Fan Line was pathetic.

More talk about Bounty Gate and the 2009 NFC championship game.

Vikings fans are stuck in the past.

What else is there?? This year is done before it got a good start. All kinds of injuries, players suspended and kicked off the team, criminal owners doing whatever they can to make more money for their bloated bank accounts, a brutal schedule to start the season. I am gonna go out on a limb and say that this season will make us 0-38 for superbowl appearances in the last 38 years. 0-4 in NFC championship games during that same span. Not even the old Silver Fox could break this wretched spell. He dam near died trying.

The team got better today with some of the injuries.

Greenway out...enter Hodges

Cassel out...enter Teddy

Robinson out...enter anybody really...he's been brutal.

Rudolph and Fusco will hurt.

**Harry Smith is an "All Pro" type player if he continues to play like he is.**

Greenway was absolutely awful. Don't know if it was the hand or what, but he looked like he was just trying to take himself out of the plays, and leave gaping holes to run through, especially in the first half.

The difference I see so far is Teddy don't take the big hits, he eludes the pressure, gets some yards and then slides or gets out of bounds before contact.

Foosball runs around trying to extend the play and takes the big hits, similar to RG3. They can slide or get out of bounds but they try to slam into defenders twice their size instead for a couple extra yards. Yeah it's nice to be a gamer but you have to be smart about it.

Russell Wilson don't take very many big hits either, he'll slide, get out of bounds, or throw it away before he takes the big hit.

Very low, probably 2 feet lower than last year at ice out.

what do they look like this spring?

I might have missed a guess, but here are the ones that I noted:   JerkinLips – March 27th, then April 7th Brianf. – March 28th Bobberwatcher – April…. MikeG3Boat – April 10th SkunkedAgain – early April, then April 21st   Definitely a tough year for guesses, as it seemed to be a no-brainer early ice out. Then it got cold and snowed again.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!
    • Brianf.
Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
