Schuster's 12/29-31 report

Fished out of a Schuster's sleeper in 27 feet of water. 3 guys caught about 30 walleye/sauger and 6-7 pout total. Most of the eyes and sauger were small.<P>Our best jig was a gold angel eye tipped with a shiner followed up by a plain gold hook and a shiner. Green and white jigs caught a few too. As we were leaving, it sounded like other houses did somewhat better but nobody claimed to have really nailed 'em.<P>Good luck and Happy New Year!!

[The Crumpler]

We fished during the same time frame with 5 of us icing about 75 fish. Mostly small walleye and saugers with an occasional large 'pout thrown in for good measure.<P>Gold pimples with a minnow head produced the best, but plenty of fish were caught on set lines with tailhooked fatheads.<P>The key to triggering strikes seemed to be a small lift and hold. Pounding or aggressive jigging only succeeded in clearing the Vex.<P>Sounded like others had similar success, the largest walleye we heard of was 25"<P><p>[This message has been edited by The Crumpler (edited 01-01-2004).]
