No, it's you that doesn't understand. You believe that this case is like the 86% majority but yet she married the abuser. I believe that shoots holes in your theory as I don't believe the majority of women who are abused before marriage end up marrying the abuser.

What I am trying to get at that most here can't seem to understand is, why is it up to you and me to be outraged enough about this incident to completely throw this girl's life into a tailspin? If she obviously does not want anything to change in her life regarding her relationship with her husband, who are we to insist it should?

Why am I outraged ? Because the perp committed a violent felony and never faced a trial or plead guilty to a lesser charge. 125 bucks for counciling ... that was the price he paid for knocking a woman unconcious in an elevator. He could have killed her with that whollop.

Goodell is a liar. I watched that interview on cbs yesterday and it was obvious he was full of bull. The guy has been making around 45 million a year he should just walk away it isn't like he will be hurting.

My understanding is now that the police sent the video to an NFL executive, but the video was not received under proper legal procedures. Thus NFL lawyers would have advised the destruction of the video and said to omit everything seen in the video from the decision. Otherwise it was a free out for Rice if his lawyers ever chose to fight the decision passed down by the NFL, as the NFL did not acquire the video through a lawful process.

This is one of those cases where due process impedes the right decision. What the NFL is doing now is willful ignorance: basically mitigating the monetary damage because whatever they do they stand to only lose. Nobody is happier the video went public than the NFL. It gave them a free out to pass down the decision they probably would have sought from the start. We ended up at the right place after all, the legal system just slowed the process significantly.

Think just on the news last night Man killed his wife after numerous times of abuse to her. It's sick and only shows how weak that man is doing anything of this. Just because someone is your equal still does not give you the right to hit or attack them. All I am trying to say is that all I ever hear is about gender equality but when it comes right down to it no one REALLY wants there to be true gender equality. Not women or men. Maria Pirovolikos doesn’t own a Rice jersey — her boyfriend does though — but if she did she would have worn it.

Last month, the NFL announced a new six-game unpaid ban for players who violated the league’s policy on domestic violence. A second violation would be a lifetime ban from the league. But Ravens fans are upset that Rice’s suspension is “indefinite” and not six games.

“They’re both to blame,” Pirovolikos said. “She put her hands on him. It’s not okay for women to hit men, it’s not okay for men to hit women. I don’t think what he did was right, but you know what, it happens every day. They were drunk. They’re both to blame.

“And I think what he should of gotten is like what everyone else got — a slap on the hand and six games.”
