Two game suspension

I didn't say 86% of women who are abused marry their abuser clearly you didn't understand the stat.

No, it's you that doesn't understand. You believe that this case is like the 86% majority but yet she married the abuser. I believe that shoots holes in your theory as I don't believe the majority of women who are abused before marriage end up marrying the abuser.

What I am trying to get at that most here can't seem to understand is, why is it up to you and me to be outraged enough about this incident to completely throw this girl's life into a tailspin? If she obviously does not want anything to change in her life regarding her relationship with her husband, who are we to insist it should?

CaptainMusky

While you're at it, please tell me how I think?

This would imply that you actually do indeed think...

As to whether its "our" job to "ruin" this girl's life by turning it upside down, well I don't know how many more times I can say it but I don't believe the her comments are her true feelings.

Just look at her expression in every video of her.

clearly you don't understand. It was NEVER my point that the majority of women abused before marriage marry their abuser.

How about her expression when she was hitting him and going after him? Didn't look like sheer terror to me.

I absolutely agree that there is never any excuse for a man to hit a woman.

I'm just saying that I'm not going to join the media blinded masses in expressing fake outrage like everyone else here.

First, I don't believe for a second you're concerned about the victims life.

Why am I outraged ? Because the perp committed a violent felony and never faced a trial or plead guilty to a lesser charge. 125 bucks for counciling ... that was the price he paid for knocking a woman unconcious in an elevator. He could have killed her with that whollop.

Cheaper than the average speeding ticket.

I stated this ...

Now you seem to be saying she was asking for it.

sicksicksick

because you're asserting the victim of the felony was actually the aggressor.

Combine that with the old "Apparently she didn't mind it too much" attitude and

you've revealed yourself to be a neanderthal.

Woman have heard this line of arguement in re other felonies. It's sick.

Goodell is a liar. I watched that interview on cbs yesterday and it was obvious he was full of bull. The guy has been making around 45 million a year he should just walk away it isn't like he will be hurting.

My understanding is now that the police sent the video to an NFL executive, but the video was not received under proper legal procedures. Thus NFL lawyers would have advised the destruction of the video and said to omit everything seen in the video from the decision. Otherwise it was a free out for Rice if his lawyers ever chose to fight the decision passed down by the NFL, as the NFL did not acquire the video through a lawful process.

This is one of those cases where due process impedes the right decision. What the NFL is doing now is willful ignorance: basically mitigating the monetary damage because whatever they do they stand to only lose. Nobody is happier the video went public than the NFL. It gave them a free out to pass down the decision they probably would have sought from the start. We ended up at the right place after all, the legal system just slowed the process significantly.

"The NFL maintains that the league was not permitted access to the elevator footage of Ray Rice assaulting his then-fiancee Janay Palmer, an assertion the New Jersey attorney general confirmed.

A spokesman for the attorney general's office told ABC News on Tuesday afternoon it would have been illegal to give the NFL a copy of the video. This remains consistent with the NFL's statements that requests for the video were denied. The league's office maintains that the NFL had not seen the video prior to Monday's release by TMZ. The video depicts Rice knocking Palmer unconscious."

I think the NFL and Goodell had seen the video...

What if Goodell and NFL officials sent the video to TMZ...mind you, four days before his suspension was set to expire...perfect timing, right?! Goodell has already been on record of saying, "we got this decision wrong"?!

How the H does TMZ get this video?!?! How...??

Like I said in a few pages back, this "thing" is just getting started....

DrJill, this may be one of the only times, but I agree with you on this one! shocked

If she was the aggressor or not. You can't say that a person who has practiced hitting tackling dummies for the last 6-8 years of his life is in anyway equal to someone who has only lifted the weight of her shopping bags, in a fight! No "real man" should hit a woman!

No "real man" should hit anyone, right? Sexist much? I thought we lived in the age of enlightenment where all people were created equal? Are you saying that women need added protection? Are you saying that women are not equal to men? Are you saying that you know what's best for this woman better than she does? If so, is it because you are a man and she is just a lowly woman?

If I witnessed my neighbor getting whalloped by anyone so hard she was "rag dolled" (my hubbys description) then dragged accross the lawn, clearly unconscious, maybe dead, I would call 911.

IMMEDIATELY.

No ifs, ands or buts. IMMEDIATELY.

I wouldn't need to run over and ask "Is everything alright ?"

Clearly it's not.

I would expect the police to arrest the perp.

I would expect a grand jury to indict.

And I would expect the penalty to be more than the cost of a traffic ticket.

No man should hit women and yes I've been in the situation were you had to do something because a man hit a woman. No fun to be there and these people are guttless that do hit woman or abuse kids. I will never say it's ok even if the law says equal there is still a difference when it's happening most times cannot defend themselves no matter if your words say they are equal they are not.

Think just on the news last night Man killed his wife after numerous times of abuse to her. It's sick and only shows how weak that man is doing anything of this. Rice did not get all that he should of and it's good that he is released from Ravens should of happen 6 months ago. This video should not of mattered the first video should of been enough.

Yes call it what you will! And not you or any of your Lib friends are going to change that woman are a weaker sex by just enacting a bunch of laws or bcrap enlightenment is going to change that woman are not and never will be as physical as big or strong as a man! So, if you hit woman just because the law says you are able to because your equal. Then you are a true gutless man! "Big Dave" smirk

I'm a liberal? Good one!

Do women deserve to be paid the same as a man doing the same job? Are there jobs that a woman should not be able to get?

Just because someone is your equal still does not give you the right to hit or attack them. All I am trying to say is that all I ever hear is about gender equality but when it comes right down to it no one REALLY wants there to be true gender equality. Not women or men. If this were a fight between 2 men you would be telling me how the first dude deserved to be laid out because he went after the guy who threw the punch. The other guy would be thought of as "standing his ground" and protecting himself. Am I wrong?

Ha, I knew you would come back with that patented reply from the whole left, male/female rights agenda!

But, we aren't talking work place equality, we are talking toe to toe in an elevator! Who wins 9 out of 10 times! wink

Here's the one! laugh

Quote:
Female Ravens fans defend Ray Rice: 'I'm keeping my jersey'

By: LAKEN LITMAN 3 hours ago

BALTIMORE — LaTonya Jones is a survivor. The first time her husband hit her, she got out of that relationship immediately. She was strong for her kids, she said.

But that isn’t keeping her from wearing her Ray Rice jersey.

“I’m keeping my jersey,” she said. “I’m not going to trade it in.”

Jones sat at a tailgate with friends — many of whom were also wearing No. 27 before the Baltimore Ravens kicked off against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night — and said that she supports Rice.

“I don’t agree with how they went from a two-game suspension to ending this man’s career,” Jones said. “This is someone’s livelihood. He has a family. I don’t condone fighting because I don’t think anybody should punch anybody, but they should not have took that man’s job away.

“We shouldn’t be involved in their personal life. I’m sure there are some players on that team today and they’re still playing and just because they weren’t filmed, they can still play and he can’t. It’s not right.”

Robin Manahan is a survivor, too. And she has four Ray Rice jerseys. She was wearing one of them Thursday night.

The other three are framed on her wall at home.

“I absolutely 100% support him,” Manahan said, standing in front of the recently erected Ray Lewis statue at M&T Bank Stadium. “I do. It had nothing to do with his job. He should not have lost his job.

“I’m supporting him all the way around. I think he’s an awesome guy, I think he’s an upstanding guy, and I think he’s an awesome football player.”

Maria Pirovolikos doesn’t own a Rice jersey — her boyfriend does though — but if she did she would have worn it.

“I think whatever happened in that elevator happened in February and should have been done in February,” Pirovolikos said. “I’ve met the guy. He’s such a sweet guy. He never said no when I asked for pictures or an autograph or anything.

“And it’s their business. His wife obviously forgave him, why can’t we?”

Last month, the NFL announced a new six-game unpaid ban for players who violated the league’s policy on domestic violence. A second violation would be a lifetime ban from the league. But Ravens fans are upset that Rice’s suspension is “indefinite” and not six games.

“They’re both to blame,” Pirovolikos said. “She put her hands on him. It’s not okay for women to hit men, it’s not okay for men to hit women. I don’t think what he did was right, but you know what, it happens every day. They were drunk. They’re both to blame.

“And I think what he should of gotten is like what everyone else got — a slap on the hand and six games.”

Due to all the the weeds, I’ve heard the name ‘Garbage Bay’ given to the bay just West of Niles Point - which bay actually has a name, Laura Bay - but I’ve not heard of Garbage Point.  Maybe it’s associated with Garbage Bay?  Dunno for sure...

Skunked - I've always been Lowrance.  A friend suggested buying one smaller Humminbird to connect to the Minnkota.  I did just that with a 9" and have since upgraded to a 12", and have been very happy with the setup.  I prefer the Lowrance/Navionics for navigation, and the Humminbird with their Side Imaging for fishing.

That's a beautiful part of the lake. Great pictures.   Forgive my ignorance as this is more of a map question. Is "Garbage Point" right next to Niles Point? I've heard the name over the years and believe that it is right around there on the north side.

I don't remember what kind of survey they did in the fall, but whatever it was showed very favorable walleye populations on Vermilion.   I did a quick search, and they were netted not shocked out of the water:  http://timberjay.com/stories/walleye-boom-time,17521

You got it, bro!   The secret spot is not so secret...    Usually the beach is empty in April but it wasn't this past weekend (we planned to try Sun before lunch and there was no room, so we took early lunch, came back and thankfully then the prime beach spot was open!  YES!)   The high water is one thing;  there's at least enough standing room and I could barely fit a folding chair.  (but action was hot--we weren't sitting much at all!) The bigger issue was casting room.  80% of the time I spent fishing and 20% untangling line from the brush/trees.  🤣
    • BrianF
East end of Waconda Bay.  Our dock points N towards Niles Point, which you can see in the background there.  Been eight years now since we bought; every year better than the last.
    • gunner55
Still there today, 2 boats in the water along with at least 2 vehicles. Usually they're done in 2-3 days so I'm not sure if the weather delayed them or if since it didn't happen last season they are taking more.
    • Sorgy
Nice view, Where on the lake is that?
    • FishinCT
I assume they also didn’t do the fall electrofishing survey to assess young of the year walleye?
    • Rick G
Nice job @DonkeyHodey   The old "secret" spot produces again😏  Hard time finding a place to stand with the high water?
