Who needs Love

In their pursuit of Kevin Love, the Bulls have reportedly offered the Wolves a package of Taj Gibson, Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic.

It's a legitimate offer and according to SheridanHoops.com, the Wolves may actually prefer it to the Cavaliers' theoretical offer of Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a future first-round pick. Neither team could include rookies for almost a month, as they can't be traded until 30 days after signing their rookie deals, but the teams could 'unofficially' agree to a deal in the meantime.

I want the Wiggins BEnnit 1st rounder deal over any others right now, if we are rebuilding take 2 #1 overalls and another 1st rounder plus the lottery picks we will earn from this losing season for next year also and you have a start. yes we wait another 2 years...

Agreed. With the other deals we'll become nothing more than an average team, maybe a 8 seed playoff team at best. With the Cavs deal we'll take a step back for sure and maybe we never amount to anything but there is at least the chance that these young guys develop and realizing the potential they currently have. Then we maybe we might have something worth watching.

I dont know, it wouldnt be hard to win 30 games, even with some rookies. Not to mention first picked rookies. Love was a ball stopper on one end of the floor, and a defensive liability on the other end. Without Love, they will be forced to play team ball, rather then pass the ball to Love.

I like the Clevland pics better as well. And Love wants to get his ring with James.

Let's guess what will play out though. Love will start the season here. Flip hoping we can make a run and keep him here. sick We won't and then he walks mad

Flip is taking his time, already a verbal agreement in place they just wanted the numbers to be there.

That's fine with me. The more pressure (real or fake) that Cleveland feels to make a deal the better. Teams such as Chicago would be smart to do whatever they can to hurt their opponents, and that only benefits us.

Apparently the Knicks made an offer to us last week, but it was such as lame attempt I'm not even sure why they bothered. I can't even name one player in the deal.

Scott K... I have to disagree with you on KLove... ball stopper? He is the guy you want to touch the ball for the wolves the Offense ran through him. The NBA is a star driven league, no stars = not a good team... Defensive liability, while not a stellar defender he does a good enough job certainly not a def specialist but not the weak defender he started out as. Stars get away with more on the def end anyway... and lets not forget he rebounds better than most/almost all the players in the NBA. He is the best player we have and has hit multiple big shots late in games. While I want Wiggins I would rather have him stay but since that is not an option... get the best deal. IMO Wiggins and the rest from CLE.

I agree with all of that. He was our go to guy, plays went through him. But that in itself is the definition of ball stopper. If the plays now get distributed through 3 people, rather then one, we open up the offense a little more.

"Kevin Love joining the Cavaliers appears to be imminent, according to ESPN.

We still don't know exactly what the Cavs will give to acquire Love, but the fact that sources are calling a trade a "when, not if" situation points to Love joining the Cavs at some point. Cleveland appears to be the only team the Wolves are talking to about a Love trade, and chances are that Andrew Wiggins is involved, along with Anthony Bennett. But regardless of what names are involved in a potential trade, it does sound like the Cavs will have Kyrie Irving, LeBron James and Kevin Love on the court together at some point this season. If a deal does go down, it's not likely to happen officially until 30 days have passed from the day Wiggins was signed by the Cavs (July 24)."

"Anthony Bennett was pulled from a Pro-Am tournament in Canada on Tuesday, but is not injured.

His agent reportedly made the move, which should sufficiently throw the 'Kevin Love to Cavs' rumors in full gear. It makes sense, as Bennett's name has been included in potential deals for the Cavs to get Love since day one, although it's clearly speculation that something is in the works. Having said that, it's hard to think of another reason Bennett's agent would make such a move, so let the speculation begin."

The ball doesn't stop with him but who was he going to pass it to anyways? Pass to Rubio to shoot? By the way Love avg 4.4 assists a game last year...not too bad for a 26pts 12reb player!

I agree with all of this. He's a great all around player. Too bad he's kind of a D bag. I would have liked to see him stay.

OK I never said he wasn't a dbag though... he whines way too much but he is the best player we have had in a while... since the ticket... and he was kind of a dbag too, hmmm coincidence? both will get traded and likely win a ring... coincidence? no just funny how it works out. IMO KLove will be a great 2nd fiddle to LBJ with Kyrie Irving also they are going to be tough.

The NBA store has discontinued Andrew Wiggins' Cavs jersey.

It's not a surprise to see the NBA put a halt on the No.1 pick's jersey because he's almost certainly on his way to Minnesota in a deal for Kevin Love. If he does wind up in Minnesota, there's a good chance he'll be the first or second scoring option in his first season. He'll be worth a pick in the late-middle rounds of drafts.

Agreed but he'll want out when his rookie contract is up. It's pretty rare to see a KG type player want to stay here.

The Wolves never added any players to help him win. They added some very good players, but none of them were good matches to play with Love.

Andrew Wiggins has not yet been informed by the Cavaliers of a potential trade sending him to Minnesota in exchange for Kevin Love.

"As of now, Wiggins anticipates remaining a Cavalier," one source close to the rookie said. This doesn't mean that Wiggins won't be traded, but rather, the Cavs are delaying officially letting him know. There's also still time, as Wiggins cannot be traded until August 23. With Anthony Bennett being held out of pickup games, Kevin Love withdrawing from the FIBA World Cup, the NBA temporarily discontinuing the sale of Wiggins' Cavs jerseys, and Timberwolves' owner Glen Taylor saying that a trade is "likely" to go down by August 23 or 24; it would be shocking to not see this pan out when the moratorium on a Wiggins trade is lifted at the end of the month.

Brian Windhorst told ESPN Radio in New York that there is a handshake deal in place for Kevin Love, sending Andrew Wiggins and Thaddeus Young to the Wolves and Anthony Bennett to the Sixers.

The fact that Minnesota is going to get anything near this type of deal for Love when there's essentially only one suitor is pretty amazing. Young's fantasy value wouldn't be unchecked in Minny as it was in Philly, and likewise there isn't a much better place for Bennett to land. Stay tuned as the Summer of Love slowly...comes...to an end.

that is what I was thinking they would end up doing...the wolves get wiggens, young, and a 1st from cle and sixers take another young player to their mix of youngsters and get rid of their highest paid player. I like it and with Wiggins being a guy from canada hopefully he won't want to leave MN as fast as others have..

This is far and away the best deal we could have hoped for. If Young continues to put up numbers the way he has been, and if Wiggins is half the prospect he's touted to be, we are getting an absolute rocking deal. Yes, Love is a double-double machine, but when you play for the board instead even attempting to play defense a LOT of guys could be double-double monsters. I just hope nothing falls apart in the next 19 days or whatever, but this will be looked back on as a real steal for the Wolves, I believe. It would have been a good deal before with Wiggins and Bennett and a pick, but to swap Bennett and Young? Nice!

Young only has one year left on his deal and then he can opt out or go free agent. We only will have him for a year.

I wonder if there is an agreement to sign him to a deal as part of the trade?

Should be exciting to see what we can do with these young guys.

Said by Wolves fans this time of the year 23 of the past 25 years.
