Moving to Minnesota this spring and wanted to know where you think is the best area for Hunting and fishing (I like pike perch and trout)

I guess I also need a place to work so it needs to have a Machine shop cool

Well, Duluth would probably be a good option. I guess it depends on your wants and needs as well. Personally, I love the outdoors, but I like having stores like target, walmart, fleet farm, etc at my finger tips. So living in the city makes sense for me. Duluth is a big enough city where you can have the city convenience, but also be within good distance of great hunting/fishing! Cost of living is something that's going to differ from spot to spot also, so hopefully a local can give you info on that subject. Living in Minnesota, you'll have to adapt to cheering for mediocre sports teams as well

Yup I totally agree Duluth, St Cloud and Grand Rapids are some of the places I'm looking at

Bemidji is a nice northern town with the inclusion of commercial stores as well! I live outside of Superior in the woods. And only 12 miles to the west I'm in the city. Cost of living is okay I guess? Might want to get a place that doesn't heat with propane at this time though for that is killing people's budget with the cost per gallon lately. Gas right now is about 3 n a quarter, so something to think about as well. And last but not least, I find it hard to find employment around the twin ports.

Duluth, Grand Rapids, Bemidji, Brainerd areas.

Growing up in Minneapolis, I was aiming to land a job near one of the above Minnesota towns and ended up in Duluth. No complaints but do admit I take a few fishing/hunting trips each year to the Brainerd and Grand Rapids areas for a change of pace.

I personally would stay away from St. Cloud area as it seems to be getting more like a suburb of the cities.

Duluth. Plus on sunday when you run out of beer, all you have to do is drive across the bridge to superior WI and get some!

Duluth offers a lot. Cirrus, the airplane manufacturer, is hiring. You don't have to have a certification to work in some of their jobs. There are other good jobs in the aviation industry if you are willing to do a just a little bit of training at the local community colleges/tech schools.

Got 2 Questions:

Is the cost of living bad ? (I will be bringing in about $2,200 a month)

I know that Ontario has some great brook trout streams but what about northern Minnesota ?

Thanks "gunflint guy" love to here about local shops and ur guys opinions on them

One way of looking at it is that Duluth is the largest city area north of the twin cities. It is also a quick drive down I35 if you want to go there. As you get into the Brained lakes and even farther away from the twin cities; Bemidji, you get more remote. However the fishing opportunities in my opinion get better too. I really like living in Duluth myself; after being raised in the twin cities. Between the fishing and deer hunting and quite a bit larger economic structure it ends up being doable. The hardest thing for me to get use to is that it really doesn't get TC nice here until June. You'll have some nice days, but cold and wet ones too. If I was to start over I'd start somewhere a little south of Duluth. Again near I35 and hwy 33, and some day it might happen for me. For me I have a lot of relatives and friends in the TC's. Also as you get away from the big lake the spring comes earlier. Obviously this is my bias speaking here. In the end though it really is what is important to you that matters.

Another option would be an area with a mine (Babbitt, Eveleth, Gilbert, Hibbing, Silver Bay, Virginia) if you want to live in a medium - small city to a small town.

There are brook trout streams in the Arrowhead, most being along the North Shore.
