The Seattle Vikings and their very short QB seem to be doing well. 1 more TD and they may as well put T-Jack in. grin

Predicted January 10th, Playoff thread when 8 teams were still standing:

I'll pick SF, Seattle, Denver and New England.....unless they let Andrew Luck go like they did in the 2nd half last week.

Then we see a Seattle - Denver Superbowl and Seattle finally wins their 1st being they got robbed by the refs who handed it to the Stealers in their last appearance in the SB

Perfect prediction smile

Sometimes a guys better off lucky than good...right laugh

I am going to take Seattle 31-27. I really hope its a good close game, and I think it could go either way. If Seattle can get some real pressure on Manning they will win. If they don't Denver is going to win. I actually think we might see a "cheap" shot or two on Manning. Get his feet moving, that is the way to beat him.

For Seattle we should see a healthy dose of Lynch, and look for some creative ways to get Percy the ball.

In the end whoever wins the turnover battle has 90% chance of winning the game.

Pretty much nailed it. Sure wish it would have been a much closer game, even I was impressed by how the pressure got to Manning. I couldn't believe how loud it was there too. There were a ton of Seattle fans there. Didn't have to listen to a single Omaha from that rube. As Vikings fans we should enjoy this, it maybe as close as we ever get to a championship.

This game above everything else PROVED that championships are WON in the trenches. The closer you are to the QB on every play the more you matter. The LOB would not have looked near as good if Manning wasnt under tremendous pressure all night.

Congrats Seattle.

Pretty good predictions Rick.

I was pretty sure that the NFC championship was the superbowl a couple weeks ago. That was the best game all year.

I ended the year 5-4 for the playoffs. Tonight was the PERFECT example of how to beat a star QB. You dont give him time to throw. Its not about shutdown CBs or MLBs. You pressure him and crush the pocket on him.

A++ by Seattle.

I'm pretty sure the defensive backfield was the main reason Manning was holding the ball so long...

Manning had all the time he "normally" needs to throw the ball...that 1/2-1 second longer gives the rush a time to close the distance a little.

Seattles DB's ARE that good.

You are officially the WORST HSO analyst!!! I remember several drives in the first half where Manning was directly impacted by the D-line. The big interception, the deflected pass on 4th down right before half, the other INT where they collapsed the pocket. HE HAD ZERO chance in the first half.

I honestly dont know what game you were watching.

PM me whatever you were drinking. Obviously it was some really good stuff.

Seattle Seahawks

Sacks - 1

QB Hits - 4

And that was on 49 passing attempts.

I'm pretty sure the only person that impacted Payton Manning was Payton Manning.

Just because you dont sack or hit the QB doesnt mean you didnt have a huge impact on his comfort. Avril had a direct impact on both INTs. Manning had zero time to throw on them. Think he was there for the fumble too, but I dont think it was him that caused it. Then on the fourth down right before the half the other DE deflected the pass. How many other crummy throws did they force.

The pocket was collapsing right away for Manning unlike when he played NE, where he had all day to throw. Go back and watch the game and pay attention to Manning and his happy feet. Seattle crushed the pocket and that's why Manning stunk it up.

I watched the game Buck...Manning gets his "happy feet" when he can't get the ball out of his hands when he wants to...which is way faster than the D-Line can get to him. Just look up his stats as far as sacks/hits/pressures go...it's historically good.

Seattle did have good pressure...I'm not saying they didn't. My point was that Manning couldn't get rid of the ball when he WANTED to and that was because the D-Backs for the SeaChickens took that away from him.

Jared Allen would have 25 sacks per year if he were given the defensive backfield the Hawks have...chew on that for awhile.

Manning will probably get sick of throwing TD's.
DOUGHKAY! I got sick of watching that old man try and play. Just goes to show you sometimes stats mean nothing. You are who u are and hes a career choker. please retire.

It was obvious from that game that the league has shifted toward the teams with strong offenses. Defense doesnt win championships. smile

Yeah, maybe in another 12 years it'll happen again...

I have no doubt that MN will eventually hit on the winning combination of "run and stop the run" on one of those 12 year anomalies.

LOL.

Add one more franchise to win a Super Bowl. Are the Vikings going to join that group during our lifetime? Broncos were out of synch right from the first kickoff and never found their groove. Then add the turnovers and they never had a chance.

Yep, Broncos were horrible all the way around. Right from the kickoff with Holiday bringing it out to the 12, to the bad snap over Mannings head for a safety when he's coming up to the line to change the play, right then I was like oh no not one of these games.

Holiday was setting up bad field position all game, guys were getting dominated on the line, Manning was pressured making some bad throws, WR's were dropping passes and fumbling, Moreno could of ran up and atleast got in the way of the guy that made that Pick 6. He just stood there waiting for the ball to come to him.

Not taking anything away from the Seahawks they played mean all game but man the Broncos sure did absolutely nothing to help the cause. You could never win a game with all them mistakes, especially against one of the better D's of all time.

Broncos could have played a good game and they still would have gotten beat. Instead they played a lousy game and got destroyed. John Fox's face after the Percy Harvin kickoff return said it all. No more books about Manning, words of Peyton in red.

It was won and lost by defensive line play. Seattle's showed up and Denver's did not. How bad is Robert Ayers? Wow, how does that guy make a roster on any team? His side was just destroyed consistently. Also what is with the tackling on Denver's d'line? There were a lot of missed opportunities.

Anybody else get a chuckle out of Aikman's take on Wilson being labeled a "game managing" QB? Whoaaaa there Cowboy, a little defensive there being you were the definition of a game managing QB.

Things I learned:

Seattle was ready, Denver was not

AFC was a ton weaker this year

Joe Buck is a complete turdface (already knew that but now know it more than ever)

National anthems shouldn't be sung in opera

This was a home game for Seattle (most Ive heard from crowd noise in a super bowl)

John Fox can not handle adversity

Did I miss this years Go-Daddy commercial?

Seriously bro, could you be any more robotic in your assessment?

WHO EVER WINS THE TURNOVER BATTLE HAS A 90% CHANCE OF WINNING THE GAME. (Robot voice)

Solid take Buck. If a 5yr old was forced to watch CBS pregames all year they would say the same thing.

I agree with Greebs on this 1.Denver was out of sync & never had chance. As it turned out it was pretty much over in 0:24,the 1st 0:12 of each 1/2.

Maybe you could call him that but his career stats for only 12 years of play are not that far off from John Elway's first 12 years of stats and I'm not too sure too many would call Elway a "game manager".

Elway didnt have that O-line, WRs, RB, FB, or TE. Insert Ponder and theyd have won those SBs. Aikman was the definition of "Game-Managing" QB's. You think Aikmans Stat line makes him a HOFer? Come on Big Dave, dude averaged like 200 yrds a game. The only similarity you can make between the 2 is the butt-chin they both sport.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?
    • LakeofthewoodsMN
On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
