Worth it to bring up shiners?

I'll be fishing in a sleeper for 4 nights next weekend with an endless supply of fatheads. Anybody having luck with shiners lately? Just wondering if its worth it to bring a dozen or so with me.

Brining non-LOTW shiners will not give you a measureable edge. In fact, they might be less effective.

Most of the time I use frozen emerald shiners seined directly from the Rainy River. Dead bait. Even on my dead stick. If I fish with live bait it's fatheads, no reason to spend the extra cash on live shiners when dead will produce just as well.

If you are going to drive all that way, make sure you have fatheads and live emerald shiners. Most times it doesn't make a difference but there are times when live shiners outfish fatheads. What's another $10 when you probably spend 20 times that on other parts of the trip?

Most bait stores near the lake still have live shiners last check. Call Log Cabin Bait or Border Bait or the good stores in Baudette to be sure.

You want to use local shiners

Get the local shiner's definitely! It has also been my experience that the frozen shiner's will outfish the live one's! 1DIRTBALL
