I am looking for a lake in the area that has some nice jumbo action. I usually go to Mille Lacs, but I want to see if I can find some where closer to home in the Elk River area. Any suggestions??

South Stanchfield. They have been hit hard but you should still be able to find some. Blue Lake does have some keeper perch in it.

I've been out to Stanchfield last year at the start of the crappie craze. Is the lake not fished out yet? Was on Blue this year as well and noticed that there is more houses on the lake than I've seen in a while. Anything worth trying for?

Blue Lake you will have a lot of little perch, but I have seen perch in the 11 inch range. This year I have caught some perch in the 8-9 inches on Blue. However South Stanchfield was kicking out ton of perch in the 10-11 inch range with a few pushing 12. No the lake is not fished out. You can still have some good crappies bites and the perch can be found.

Where would you suggest looking on Stanchfield? When I was out their last year I was set up on the west side of the lake in about 14-15 FOW. I did catch the little perch around their, but no jumbos.

I have caught them all around the lake. From 12-16 feet of water. The last time I caught them I was in the middle of the lake away from people. I know they catch them on the westside of the lake in the depths you were in. I know by buddy out fished me the last time with plastics. I have used jigging spoons with minnow heads and waxies. I also set a float with a minnow. He was using maki plastics in the red maki with a orange diamond jig. I am sure the schools of perch just roam around out in the basin of the lake.

Sweet thanks! I may go out there on Saturday and see how it goes!

It is  pretty shiny piece of equipment. I was able to purchase it on my scab job wages 😆 I don't think I'll update the electronics any time soon, 3 screens is enough?

Just another "Words matter"   Voting on school levy. This was posted on the School "education district" building door.  We had a nice cold walk all the way around the building! The arrow was added, after we educated them! 😒

Obviously this is more of a hot topic due to forward facing sonar. With that being said, I know people who have pulled crappies out of basins 40+ deep since the fl-8 and zercom flashers came out. That's over 30 years ago. I do think there's a push to ban these in MN and I could see them doing it here. They'll have to pay my livescope from my cold dead hands 😆 on days I can't catch a walleye jigging or rigging it's nice to turn it on and throw corks at individual fish

It wasn't just you, I was fishing west of you about an hour on Monday. Fished 8am-4pm, no fish, two keeper walleye and one small one from 4pm-630pm. Marked a lot of fish, they would come up to a jig and swim away. They were skittish to the dead stick too

I wonder like divers, if we let them decompress every 10' for 1/2hr. If that would help?  🤔  It would slow the bite down a bit!  🤭
