Hi All,

A group of guys are staying at Anderson's Horseshoe Bay the weekend of January 17th. We are wondering about access options on that side of the lake. We would like to get out to some of the reefs, but we really haven't heard reports or anyone really traveling out that way.

Can we expect any roads on the south side of the main lake?

Any opinions of where we are staying? Good spot for fishing?

Thank you in advance.

Main lake is still in tough shape. Watch out for slush pockets they are everywhere yet. My duddies drove out to a reef on a ranger with tracks made it through slush and snow. I was driving by brindlys yesterday and broke through and got hung up on the rear axle we got lucky the front was up on some harder stuff pulled out some ice chunks and took off again. Stick to roads unless you have sled or a tracked machine.

Irish,

There are tons of spots to fish on the main lake as you look east from the resort. One good one to try is big rock reef, I've done well out there on the south side of it. Also along the south shore down towards whipholt there are some reefs and breaklines that can produce fish as well. My biggest walleye on ice however came from walker bay, goodluck!

Awesome, thanks guys for the information. We'll have a few snowmobiles...so we might check out a few spots.

If you have gps maping you will see a ton of structure just out in front of horseshoe bay. There are some deep rocks off grassy point that should be good. Also the bay itself is deep and there are lots of panfish in the summer so I would imagine they hang in the depths of the bay.
