Finally got out on Pond today. Normally I would not fish this spot because it tends to slow down after new years. Needless to say with ice condition guy cant be picky. I was lucky and did not run into any slush pockets. I only drilled 3 holes for fear of flooding and shoveled prior to drilling. Was surprised to see only about half inch of flooding. There was about 12" of good ice. The snow is crusted on top and feet fall through when walking but portable fish sled with equipment stayed on top. 8" to 10" of snow. The rumors of small perch being every where are true. Caught 3eyes 3keeper perch 1 northern. I was disappointed in how many walleyes I marked way down from usual. Dont know what to attribute this to slow day or fish population down.

How did you access the lake. Foot, truck, 4 wheeler?

Truck. I would think by next weekend most resorts will have roads out. Looks like snow has compacted enough to where its losing its insulation value.

Most resorts do have roads out. Just most don't have them near as far as they normally do. The conditions are slowly getting better
