A few of us are going to be out on Fish Lake by Harris spearing. East chapter of the MDAA is going to buy lunch for everyone. We will have dogs, chips, baked beans and stuff like that. Come on out and spear or just stop by and grab something to eat and say hi.

By the way Merk volunteered to cut everyones hole and Archery Sniper will pull blocks out. wink

sounds like a fun plan!

do any of you guys have a feel for where there might be some carp in the shallows on that lake right now?

I'd love to try and get some with my bow this winter but don't have a saw, darkhouse, etc.

I've never shot in the winter but I sure have the itch now that it's warming up

I have seen them straight out from the beach along the weed line on the south side of the lake. They are kind of hit and miss but there are some big ones.

Got my shack set up on a different lake this year but I'll try to get out to say hi.

What part of the lake or should I just look for the quick fish?

Is this an open invite to anyone, or to just chapter members? Can I assume there is thick enough ice to drive on the lake?

I usually go out from the access and hug the weed line on the south shore. There are a couple big gnarly oaks about 3/4 of the way to the point. I usually set up straight out from them.

We ended up having 11 people stop out for lunch.

We stood outside my house and grilled. Joe (11 year old) decided to stay in my house and spear. Were out talking and we hear I got one! I got one! Out of the house he comes with a pike.

A little while later I was going to show a couple guys the floor in my house. I unzip the door and Joe has the spear and is chasing another pike around the hole. He throws at it but forgets to let go of the spear and got a wet arm. I grab the line for the minnow and drag it back into the hole and the pike came after it. Joe was fast enough this time and let go of the spear and got a nice 25" eater.

Had a good time out there, even got to see a few fish. Didnt toss the spear, but had several little guys pose for pictures...

Your house is awesome Neighbor Guy. How much does it weigh?

We had a blast with the kids just chasing flags and the 7 hour snowball fight. They were definitely hungry we went through 18 suckers and each kid caught 4 pike.

sounds like a great day with lots of action

but the most important question- how were the hot dogs?!

Thanks for having us out the kid had a blast. And I got a sore arm from the snowball fight. Haha

Looks like you guys had a good time. I'll have to attend another event in the future, when I am more mobile.

I grew up spearing carp in the summer via canoe. I've weighed 30+lbers. But they don't match the one I saw on Fish last Friday. 5 gallon bucket with a tail. It was almost white in color too.
