Does anyone have any info on ice fishing Goose Lake? Drove past the road that leads down there and it is blocked off? Is there a way to get down there without ruffling anyone one's feathers?

Just curious looking to get out this weekend,

Thanks for any info!

About half way down that road there is a dnr access that goes down a hill behind someones yard,(believe the house was white) crosses the tracks(train company has a do not cross sign). It leads you down to the north end of the lake. Only fished it a few times and caught a few but never any size. Caution though the ice is VERY sketchy! If you look at the dnr lake map there is a deep hole 30ft this still had very thin ice in late february last year. Do not go here alone. Also there are supposedly springs all along the edges. The place has serious potential but is a PIA to get to and pretty sketchy. I would think if you stayed till sunset you might find some suspended crappie over that basin. Good luck...pm me if you pound them or cant find the access.

Last year I heard the DNR was ticketing people that were using that road to access the lake. I have only accessed it by boat so I am not the person that can say for sure how to access it from land. The ice is indeed sketchy out there so be careful if you do find access.

Sounds like peeps are talkin about 2 different lakes here, the Goose lake down by TI maxes out at like 5-6ft.

That 30' hole is on the east side of the lake (RR track side).

Did the dnr miss a great big 30 ft. deep hole or are we talking about a lake that is in another county?

I assume he is speaking of Goose Lake; just upstream from the 'Pump House' on the WI channel....

I emailed the CO last year and he told me there no longer is an access to Goose lake in the winter due to the Railroad no trespassing. Have fished it many times in the summer, but looks like winter is off limits unless you know one of the few land owners on it.
