I've seen people ice fishing there before. I'm assuming they're targeting pike? After watching an a fishing show where they were ice fishing the rainy river, I'm kinda' interested in checking this spot out. I'll be coming into town in march, and might have some time to set up some tip ups. Just wondering if anyone has fished this spot before and had any type of success.

The spot they showed on the show was right out in front of Wheelers Point between the main river channel and 4 mile bay. I don't think it's named Baudette Bay though. I've only fished there once when on the river in a boat and we did catch a northern drifting by that area.

Baudette bay is right in town. The Baudette rivers water upstream from the bridge on hwy 11 and the mouth area of the Baudette river downstream of bridge out to the Rainy.

Hmmmm, I maybe did'nt catch the mentioned fishing show filmed up here ??

At the edge of the bay by the International bridge you are on the edge of the Rainy River channel and you can catch walleyes. Up in the bay it is shallower and can get pike. There are locals that put houses there every year. About 1/2 to 1 mile down river is the airport where also a lot of locals fish. Most of this is done in the mornings and evenings.

Yeah, that was the show I was watching. I knew they weren't in baudette. But since I'll be driving right by that spot, and staying in town that first night, I figure I could give it a try. I couldn't find it in the regs, but I assume that the bay is considered border waters (downstream of the bridge)? Even though I seen others doing it, I wouldn't want target pike out of season.
