Hey guys, Just curious what everyone's plans are for the shed season this year. I am located in Bemidji, MN and my dad killed a buck during muzzle loader season that had already shed one side of his rack. When he shot it, the other side fell off! Heard of two brothers who shed hunt about 19 miles east of here that have already picked up 13 sheds!! Can't wait to get on the board. Also, what are everyone's thoughts on the harsh winter thus far? I imagine this will make for an early dropping season this year.

The shed hunting thread dried up about two years ago on the forums. A few posts here and there now. 2 reasons. 1. More competition 2. Fewer bucks in mn.

And yes. The shed season is off to a blazing start. Lots of sheds have been found already this year......

Yep, the deer are already stressed to the max so you guys be sure to get out there and push them around in the deep snow so you can find a few sheds. Sounds like a real good idea to me.

Good to have you trolling in every forum Buck. If I see a deer on he road I will make sure to not look.... Wouldn't want to stress your deer.

I guess it is beyond your capability to use common sense.

BuckSutherland, your hysterical reaction on here is pretty sad. The guys who picked up the 13 sheds picked them all up over a feed pile- not pressuring and chasing these deer to their death beds. This is a simple conversation about shed hunting, if it bothers you, don't look at it- or if you have some input, add it like a mature adult.

Anyways, I took a drive yesterday to do a little scouting around here and noticed a lot of standing corn from the roads. I am going to be keying in on these places come spring. Getting permission will be a challenge as most people around here are deer hunters but there is also a lot of public ground so I will be trying to locate public ground near the corn fields. I am going to be remembering where the deer are now and focus my efforts in these spots come spring.

I did add some non-hysterical, adult input. If you don't like it you can ignore me. Apparently you are incapable of simple math.

If it is simple as putting out a feed pile why don't you do it too and bring them right to you?? Then you wouldnt have to worry about getting permission.

Would like to see some shed pics, anyone care to post any?

My son got paid back for a good deed he did several years ago. He found a couple of expensive items at a boat ramp and called me asking what he should do.   I told him to bring them home because I was afraid if someone else found them, they might keep them. It was winter and nobody was around. This was when Facebook wasn't really popular yet, I was on several sites like this. First thing we did was make a big sign and posted it at the boat launch, then I posted it on all the forums I was on. Long story short, we never found the owner, but we sure tried. I know to this day, if either one of us found something, we'd do our best to get it back to the rightful owner.

Yes, for sure.     A few years back, and unbeknownst to me, a piece of trim came off my sled while traveling over the lake.  A fellow sledder and complete stranger found the piece and followed my tracks all the way back to my cabin to return the lost item.  Couldn't thank him enough.  His kindness will never be forgotten and is something to which I aspire.

We got the auger back! The person who found it didn't want me to mention his name, we can't thank him enough! Still good, honest people around. He called Spring Bay Resort and asked if they heard of anyone losing an auger and they sent him a screenshot of my post. So, thanks to Dayis and Steve at Spring Bay Resort for that! Thanks again everyone for getting the auger back to us!

Who’s been out? I got hit with the flu and am still recovering.

That's what they're going to do. I always read these posts and wondered how people could lose or forget stuff, well it happens!

Dang….  I know it’s your son, so kinda different, but I’d be expecting a replacement from those who lost it.  The group could each put in and wouldn’t hit one or another too bad.   But that’s just an old man’s thoughts….💭    Good luck.

So my son and buddies were out this morning fishing between Wakemup and H.O.L. Bays (probably between Metza's pt and Schmidt Island), so they had to cross the snowmobile trail to The Landing. Well,  MY Strikemaster 24 volt auger fell off the back of my sled.  They didn't realize it until they got back. If anyone found it, would be nice to get back...please and thank you. Good news is they had the battery in their pocket..... Dip $hits😡
