That is what many people have been using all winter long. There is a wheelhouse with 2 trucks and a car near the meth hole this morning.

You should use the "summer" DNR access for snowmobile use and to access Becker lake only.

I have never fished cats, but would like to give it a try. What size wheel houses are out there and what is the actual on ice distance from access to the meth hole?

Thanks,

I have seen a 20ft wheelhouse this year. Distance is about 1-1.5 miles from hwy 22 Winter access to the meth hole area.

Would someone please tell me why its called the "meth hole"? Thanks

Methane gas is released from the ground in that area... causing bubbles to rise and keeping the water from freezing unless it is unusually cold like it is now. Not because someine is making meth.. breaking bad style..

Good answer, like the breaking bad reference

It's funny how people look at you when the "meth hole" is brought up in conversation grin

We used to go on off of the road to the north of that meth hole, havnt been there for quite a few years so I dont know if you still can or not. Then they put up no parking signs because the locals whined about cars and trucks parked on "their road"so you had to drop off your gear and park way up the road and walk back.

The county put up a cable guard rail right there, that was a handy place to get on the lake in the winter

Oh well,at least I know that now if I decide to ever hit it again.Thanks.

Horseshoe Don,

Can a guy get a 20ft wheelhouse out of the Winter Access? I remember it being a little steep. Have not been over that way yet this year.

Posted

I have never done it but I do know that a 20ft wheelhouse was in front of my cabin a few weeks ago and he got on and off. That is the best info I can give you.
