Meyers plow

Question

Posted

I have an older meyers plow that I am thinking needs the pump and or cylinders rebuilt. It moves slow when I first start and gets better the more I use it, which I just put off as being cold. However even after using it the angle arms do not hold in place when pushing snow and often takes a while for them to turn direction. any ideas? was thinking of getting new motor off the E site to see if that helps.

thanks

I have the same issues. Mine drops as well. I think there are seals that go bad and need replacing. I'm going to limp mine through winter and take the pump off and bring it to a hydraulic shop.

Hydrolic plows should have the belt ran to Main larger pullies,That inturn spins the pump faster providing more hydrolics.

Where does your pump pully belt run? thats normally the problem with home hookups easy to do but dont supply RPMs.

If the blade is dropping quickly when in the up position,That would be O-rings in the lift cylinders. But slow responce would be the pump not pumping, Due to a loose belt or RPMs even if it worked fine under low RPMs when installed, its getting worn and more RPMs will fix it.Or a belt adjustment. If the main pump is worn out it will cause the same as above.Start cheap adjust the belt,Move the belt to a larger pully. If they fail the pump is in need of rebuild. Can home hydrolic plow pumps be bought yet?? All I see anymore are elec.units.

Then I'll add are you sure it fluid is topped off?
