I have not rented a fish house for 20 years. I use my own portables etc.

However, I want to take my wife along on a trip to Red Lake and make it maximally enjoyable for her.

Should I:

A. Stay in a motel / cabin every night and use the fish house only during the day or

B. Find a nice 24 hour a day fish house and just stay on the lake?

C. Next question would be specifics: what are some good resorts or outfitters that would more likely have housing my wife would enjoy. She has camped in the past but is no longer interested in "roughing it".

Any sleeper you use, will have the biffy outside so it depends on what your idea of "roughing it" really entails...

The houses up there are not roughing it though. Look up the beacon harbor page and follow it to johns rentals.

I would go with Outdoor Authority. Great guys and the sleepers are top notch. I would have no issue with having my family or friends go with them

If you're looking for a Motel on the lake look up Beacon Harbor nice people with well kept motel rooms. I spent the last 10 years portable and sleeper house fishing from now on I will stay in the motel at night and fish during the day and evening. I like coming back to warm floors, clean bathrooms, microwave, fridge and coffee maker.

Yep, I would recommend a sleeper fish house if she hasn't ice fished much. Just like fishing out of your living room except for the out house.
