My wife and I are heading up to LOW the 1st. Anyone know if I can drive my F250 and a 7x14 on wheels on the ice? We have never been up before, and I talked to Tom at Wigwam about a week ago. I forgot to ask about the ice. If anyone has a suggestion on where to go, I would appreciate it. Thanks

Hey kid!
Four of us were up there yesterday. There was 15-16" of ice at gull rock. We were in 28' of water. I witnessed pickups all over pulling large houses around. It sounds like its going to be kinda cold here this next week so I would think by the first you should be able to get around in most places. The trucks were driving out at least 3-4 miles out from bablers but mainly and should have stayed on the plowed roads. If I were you I might go that route, through bablers since you can get to gull rock, arnesons, 5 mile and I think once the ice gets better, you can get to 16 mile. This might sound sorta greek to you but once you get up there it'll all come together. Hope this helps a little.

Hey Kid.
There should be no problem taking the whole ball of wax out. 8 of us were up there between the 18 and 21, we drove out of the the access of Adrians by the Wiggy. Had a 1/2 ton 2003 GMC and a 3/4 ton GMC pulling a 14 foot enclosed trailer out past Pine. I think everyone else was pretty much scared to drive until we did. Stay away from the west side of the island though, truck went through in about 2-3 feet of water on that Sunday, guess it is thin ice there all winter. Fished shallow in the morning towards the west end of the island and then moved to about 26 feet by 10am or so then back in shallow by 3pm. Hope you and your wife have as good as luck as we did. Oh by the way the 19th my brother-in-law released a nice 28 incher that afternoon in about 16 feet of water. GOOD LUCK!!! Hope this info helps.
------------------
Kid,
Was up there last week with schusters.Like the other two guys were saying, stay on the plowed road, with bablers or adrens. If i were you I would look for resort shantys.the real good resorts put you on the big fish schools.
You will catch a lot of little eyes and saugers, enought to keep you busy and the 14 to 16 are the good eaters. You might even catch a good ol pout
