Reality setting in????

Its so fun to be right about the Vikings all the time.

1. I have been a long-time critic of Musgrave, and ALL of you are finally starting to come around.

2. Some of you are finally starting to see that JA is not worth much at all. We overpaid bigtime and now we are getting what we deserve. Good teams dump their overpaid scrubs on loser teams like us. Greg Jennings.

3. How is Greg Jennings doing btw?? Having that Pro-bowl season? I bet they cant even tell he is gone in GB. GB and NE keep plugging in no-name recievers and getting the job done. They don't blow their whole draft on one guy. Cord Patterson.

4. How is Patterson doing??? Lighting it up?? Nope, in fact, he barely ever gets on the field. Here's an idea. Lets spend lots of money and draft picks to get weapons, but have nobody to throw them the dam ball. Great idea. In the mean time we don't have a backup RB or anyone that can play LB. But you all said it was such a great idea to draft Patterson.

5. Sharrif Floyd and the new CB. Why don't they ever play?? We have 3 first-round draft picks and we never play them????? A first-round pick should ALWAYS start and play the entire game, otherwise they truly weren't a first round pick.

6. Laughing stock of the QB world. We gonna try and wear that used jock strap with Josh Freeman for the next 3 years and when that doesn't work bring in someone like him or McNothing??

7. To everyone that complains about the O line. Yes I think we need help, especially at RG. But if the coaches had the slightest ability to scheme or play call we would look way better. Also help to have an actual QB. We have neither.

8. To everyone who complains about the secondary. They would look way better if we actually got pressure on the QB with the front 7.

9. John Carlson? How do you ever put him on the field over CP?? Is Patterson that stupid and raw that he cant figure it out??

10. AP. As good as he is there is no way we ever win a SB with him.

Every one of those decisions are the coaches (Frazier)...you will see very shortly how those decisions panned out for the Minnesota head coach.

By the way, your take on Allen is wrong...he EARNED his $$$ while here in Minnesota. The only mistake they made was not asking him to restructure his deal this year.

And it is always fun when a guy comes on a message board and goes item for item on all the things "he obviously knew and made sure he said over and over to everyone long before it became a reality"....

In my opinion, the only way to fix our current state is to be willing to completely start over. I don't mean we have to get rid of everyone, but we can't keep trying to make the big splash and fill that one hole.... Usually folks say the Patriots are the model franchise.... even they whiff on free agents..... Amendola being a current example.... but they have a really good structure in place of depth, scheme and they are really good where it matters.... Coach, QB and on 3rd down.

Sometimes it hurts when you are so right like I have been about the Vikings all long.

Sounds to me like BuckSutherland has it all figured out... It must be tough being right all the time... Buck, why aren't you the coach and GM?? You could straighten this all out!!!! We all know you are doing this for attention!!! Its a game, get over it...

I love how you think we SHOULDNT improve the wr position simply because we dont have a qb... Gregg Jennings has looked pretty dam good whenever he actually gets a chance to catch the ball. Money well spent imo. What are the vikes supposed to do? Sign a bunch of arena league football players on the cheap because they dont have a top 5 qb in the NFL? Makes absolutely no sense.... ZERO. you should always be looking to improve the team, especially in the NFL where a 2-14 team can be 6-0 the next year. Stop with the "we shoulve never signed Jennings" nonsense. Hes our best wr and perfect to help groom patterson.

Plus when you have good WR, you can lure a good QB here easier. Or you can train your rookie QB better is their receiver can catch the ball, and they feel confident in the receiver to catch the ball.

CART before the horse. When will you guys realize that the futher you are away from the ball the less you matter?? Pretty sure that the guys Brady is throwing to are a bunch of no-namers. Doesn't seem to be phasing them.

So Buck, who do you plan on taking over as the starting QB? SHould we have Peyton Manning? Or should we get Tom Brady? Then there is Drew Brees, but he just got schooled by Brady so he isnt worth anything. I think we should take Manning. Then we will win.

I was begging and pleading for us to draft a QB in last springs draft. Wouldn't have taken much to move up and give Barkley a try. Oh wait. We blew all of our pics on CP. You don't have to draft 1 2 or 3 to get that franchise QB. Some of the best QBs in the league weren't top three picks. Just ask Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Kapernick, Russell Wilson. Its like chess. The only real piece that matters is the king (QB).

I wouldnt suggest we "blew" all our picks on patterson. Qb is the biggest carp shoot in any draft of any sport and there wasnt much there at the position last year imo.

U can see Patterson has a ton of talent. Hes not Troy Williamson. Its a shame our coaching staff can't figure out how to get him in the game.

Its pretty obvious this coaching staff needs to either wake up and throw some wrinkles in our vanilla cover 2 and our vanilla "power" running game or theyre gonna be gone sooner then later. The bit isn't working anymore, if it even ever was

Buck, I am not disagreeing with you, the QB is the key position, we need one, but I think we did pretty decent in last years draft. Now we should have never stretched for Ponder. We will have a high draft pick this year, I hope they go QB, even if we have other needs.

2014 will be the year to take a QB. And i believe the vikes will take one no matter what. Although if we had the chance at Clowney or the biggest stud MLB in the draft i would rather do that and take a qb later if we end up keeping Freeman.

Cause a DE or a MLB is the missing piece to winning a title. The highest paid DE ever has worked so well for us already crazy

Clowney is a sure thing like Jamarcus Russel was a sure thing a few years ago.

Or we could just keep the d we have and give up 35 points every game to the point where it doesnt matter who our qb is, you know, like right now...

Jared Allen has the most sacks in the NFL since THE VIKINGS aquired him in 2008. Its really hard to please you buck. REALLY HARD

Buck, just make sure you put all of these GREAT and GRAND predictions on the Board BEFORE they happen. I don't think a lot will argue your point of how important a QB is, not even the Vikes, considering we keep trying to bring guys in that will work out, but to come on here and post your genius thoughts WELL AFTER THE FACT, doesn't give you a whole lot of credibility.

Buck would coach him up and trade him at JUUUUST the right time to amass 5 first round picks and a whole pot of money from some team he can hoodwink! All while flying on the corporate jet, going to talk to a new host city for his team and photos being shot to give to artists to cast a bronze statue that will be erected on the spot of the old metro dome! laugh

Good Luck!

Ken

Very low, probably 2 feet lower than last year at ice out.

what do they look like this spring?
    • SkunkedAgain
I might have missed a guess, but here are the ones that I noted:   JerkinLips – March 27th, then April 7th Brianf. – March 28th Bobberwatcher – April…. MikeG3Boat – April 10th SkunkedAgain – early April, then April 21st   Definitely a tough year for guesses, as it seemed to be a no-brainer early ice out. Then it got cold and snowed again.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!
    • Brianf.
Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
