That's what I said... The league is smarter now.. You'd get a first nd maybe a ate round at best now... Tht is IF you an find a team with cap room.

That would be about the dumbest things the Vikes could do.. You build a team around a guy like that, not trade him.

They have been trying that for 6 years. By the time they build it he will be in a nursing home.

Cough cough...as much as it pains me to say this cough cough...but big Dave is right. Peterson is someone we "built" our team around but his best years are behind him. He may have 3 good yrs left and there is no way we can fix everything in a yr or two to really get everything out of him. RBs decline is faster than their rise. His end is very near.

The Redskins are beating the Bears using a running back that I've never heard of.

Alfred Morris? The second leading rusher last year behind only AP?

There's no chance AP gets traded.

yes, I was. still can't remember his name. Has two TD's though. I am really laughing right now reading all the posts. I kinda figured I would get blasted for saying trade AP- surprised some feel it IS the thing to do. Just watching Peyton Manning- he had to move on to win again too. It's the nature of the game today- All business

I have been saying for a couple years to trade Peterson. We are going nowhere with him, and over half of you just cant seem to figure that out.

He is worth about one middle first round pick and one third round pick. I think he is one of the best RBs in the history of the game, but you cant build your team around a RB. Look back at the last 20 Superbowl champs and tell me one team that built around a RB.

That's right, they don't exist.

What bout the bus for the stealers?

The BUS?? No way. When the Steelers won it all in 2005-2006 Duece Staley was the starting RB. Bus was back up. That team won it all cause the QB didn't turn the ball over and their defense could get pressure on the opposing QB. RBs and superbowls don't go together in the modern NFL.

What a guy like Peterson does is sells ticks to rubes who gobble him up at every chance they get.

Do you realize the Browns just received a 1st rounder for Richardson...Richardson?!

I think the league would place a much greater value on AP than you would think.

This same discussion was had about Percy and look what we got for him...way more than what 75% of people thought.

+1 Leech.

It was sad to see garnett leave, but good to see him win!

No it wasnt. Garnett is one of the biggest A-holes in the NBA. He's a cry baby too I guess.

Why would the Vikings trade away the only good thing they have on there team? It blows my mind theres even talk about this.

Well, you're forgetting about the 2000 Ravens that were built around Jamal Lewis. But to your point, the league is mostly about QBs.

I also agree that Peterson wouldn't garner more than a 1st round pick. Trent Richardson is a stud to be with many years of service ahead. Trading for Peterson right now is like buying stock at its peak. You might get a little more upside but you are staring at crash.

You only would get a 1st round pick because the additional benefit you are getting is cap relief.

My only point that I'll make against trading Peterson is that the Vikings aren't struggling with the salary cap, and once Jared Allen goes it's all about the draft and finding a QB. You aren't going to buy one on the free agent market so why would you need Peterson's cap space? He's one of the few guys selling tickets for the team.

I wouldn't say the ravens in 2000 built anything around offense! Didn't they have like 4 consecutive games without an offensive TD that year? If that team had anything less than one of the best defenses in NFL history, they don't come close to making the playoffs!

I'm pretty sure if you want to say that team was built around a single player it was the other Lewis.

Probably depends on how you define "built around," but the Broncos had Terrell Davis. (And of course John Elway.)

  • 1 month later...

Dump him, get a couple 1st rounders in the upcoming draft and 2015. Draft Myles Jack from UCLA, franchise RB and MLB all in one. wink

That guys a total stud.

Ya right. at best... The Vikes can muster a single 1st round for him. The time to trade him was right after he received MVP award. Injured, not tops in the league rushing, not a third down back, marginal as a receiver. I'm sure GMs would line up right now offering multiple 1st round picks.

Good luck!

Ken
