Any Northern Action?

I'm coming up in mid January for a few days, my first trip to LOTW, I'd love to get a big northern for a replica, anybody been fishing for them?

Hey John, <BR>You'll never get a reply, other than this, for northern fishing on LOW. There is just no interest at all for catching the pigs up there. And I can't figure out why, guess they're too crazy for the walleyes. Go to Morris Point and fish out in the bay. It can be decieving at first because it's shallow water and thick ice, I surely didn't think their could possibly be anything down there. I mean we're talkin water depth is 5 feet and 4 of the feet were ice, leaving only about a foot of water under there for a trophy northern to slither around like a snake. You'll want to fish with dead smelt or cisco's. You simply just drop 'em on the bottom and you're set. I'll be up New yrs weekend to try it out. If you truly want the trophy's, i mean like every one you'll catch, keep in touch with the resorts and go in late march when the pike are in the shallows feeding before they spawn. WOW. Man I mean WOW. Last year we, me and 3 guys, caught 10 northerns between 9 and 23 pounds all were between 30 and 43 inches. ALL were trophys. What a blast. I've only been going up there for 3 years and everytime i've been up there in march late season like that we've killed them, all LARGE pike too. But, your two best bets to catch big, big pike are at these two resorts: Zippel bay and Morris point. They're located about a mile apart too. If you'll be up there the same wknd as we're going shoot me an email and we'll meet up there and I'll show you some sweet pics.

JohnD,<P>Pike fishing has been good so far, we usually setup a tip up or 2 with dead bait when fishing for Walleyes. I was jigging today and caught & released a 34", that reel made noises I never heard before.<P>I don't know if you are going up there for Pike only but if you are going for Walleyes, don't write off the Pike just because you are in deeper water, you would be surprised how many are in the deep this time of year.<P>Mike<BR><P>------------------<BR><A HREF="http://fishingminnesota.com/ubb/Forum10/HTML/002268.html" TARGET=_blank>Frozen Bait</A>

Thanks Guys, Fishgutz, we're staying at Zipple Bay, I guess the plan is to fish walleyes in the early morning, and late evening, and to spend the majority of the day fishing tip ups, I'm pretty excited now, hopefully I won't have too much trouble finding them, let me know how you guys do!
