Lake Winnie fishing report. There’s 15 inches of ice on the main lake as of January 16th, 2020, but less in areas along the shore so resorts continue to be limited with plowing options.   There’s also 12 to 24 inches of snow across the lake making snowmobiles the only way people are getting out. There is a little bit of flooding when holes are drilled, but our cold weather has been freezing existing water, making snowmobile travel easier.   Perch fishing has been good on the shoreline breaks and main lake structure and some walleyes continue to be caught on the humps and bars early and late each.   Bring a snowmobile and contact resorts for access availability.

Cass Lake Lodge Report Chris was out checking ice conditions today. We got a new 6” of snow yesterday but the ice is finally setting up. Ice thickness is 14-16” with 4-6” top layer of bad ice. Four wheeler traffic is still possible with not much slush.

Trappers Landing Lodge Report Leech Lake Fishing Report Fishing pressure has remained low for the past few weeks. The anglers out fishing walleyes are seeing a low light bite currently.   Set lines with a colored hook and a minnow have been how a majority of fish are being caught. Look for a break line in 15' -22' of water to find the most active fish.   During the day the perch bite has been surprisingly strong with a majority of the fish coming in 12'-16' of water on Northland jigging spoons tipped with a crappie minnow or a set line with a smaller minnow are bringing fish topside.   With the low fishing pressure right now the early season ice spots are still catching fish.

Nice bite going on Garrison reef in 20' and the myr mar mud in 27' even better. Have fun!

Weird. Usually hear it with the rigid drills or the mud mixers.  No idea why some shutdown frequently and others don't.  Although figured some guys just drill more and faster than others.  Not many push them harder than Icehawk does though.  😁

From Mitch Bradshaw Outdoors We started the Annual Lake of the Woods trip off with a half day at Zippel yesterday. It didn't produce much for the group but small Saugers except for the 21.5" Walleye caught by the reigning "Mr. Walleye"!

Checked a few lakes around the area and seems like the average ice thickness is 15". Obviously this isn't everywhere, and I did find areas with 18".
