The sharks look like they are the team to beat. They got a lineup with gritty players!

  • 3 weeks later...

It was nice to see Mr Brown get his face slammed into the ice and the blood was a nice touch too...I loved the puzzled bewildered look on his face when he looked up grin

Hopefully the Shark can win tonight and tie up the series.

And my Wings are looking pretty good. That was a classic playoff war last night!

Ok, lets try this angle... smile Whats with the struggling former Sioux players in this years playoffs? grin

Nice win out of the sharks last night!

And even though the Wings are up 2-1.... I feel this is a must win tonight for them. I do expect an enormous effort out of the Hawks this evening.

Go Wings~~~

I wish I had skipped the crappy crappie fishing tonight to watch the Rangers/Bruins game. Looked like a good one.

The Wings have to be sick to there stomachs after dominating the Hawks and giving game 6 away.

I love the playoffs but you sure need some luck along the way that's for sure!

Glad the Hawks pulled it out after that horrible call at the end of the third.

That was a bad bad call, would have been some drama had Detroit won it in OT.

Great game. I am also happy for the ref that Detroit did not win because of that.

You gotta love some Game 7's!! I don't care who is playing, they are like nothing else. Probably the hardest fought series yet this post season that I have watched. Hawks and Kings should be just as good to watch. Hoping for a Bruins/Hawks cup final......with Boston bringing home the cup!

Kind of sucks the last 4 SC winners are in the conference finals, not sure who to pull for. Might have to sign up for the un-bias observer bandwagon.

The Penguins are getting steamrolled right now. Not taking anything away from Boston, but its proof that "Hard work beats talent when talent doesnt work hard".

Bruins definitely have the Penguins on their heels right now.

Im actually surprised the Kings havent snuck one in Chicago. That cheapa55 Brown needs to get his clock cleaned and i dont care who does it. Still stewing over his hit on Pominville and then later his hit on the Blues player. Grrrr.

I wouldn't sell the B's short on talent, sure they don't have a Crosby or Malkin but they are deep and loaded.

Agreed but I'm pulling for the B's since they didn't "load" up on a bunch of vets for a one year run.

Goal Tending is an obvious short-coming for the Pens and its biting them big time right now.

I bet dollars to donuts once the season ends they make a push for Luango or some other veteran.

Even at that though, you need to score more than one goal to expect to win, so it isnt entirely goaltending, but there have been more softies let in by those two than probably the rest of the goalies in the playoffs combined.

B's and Hawks in control, assuming no epic comebacks it should be a heck of a final.

If it plays out that way I agree. It should be a great Final.

Be interesting to see how the Hawks handle the "pesky Bruins" if it happens.

Anyone else awake for double OT?

I have to say I wasn't really into Boston all that much but them sweeping the Pens kind of has me leaning there way.

I've never really agreed -picking up a bunch of vets for a cup run like the Pens did. It usually proves out to be more of a team game and it seems to be hard to make a cohesive unit when you bring players in mid-season.

All it got the Pens in this case was some lost draft picks and the second best team in the Eastern Conf. Should be a great final.

LA lost, I'm happy! grin

Sooo, how does Iginla feel right now about stiffing the B's to get on with the Pens laugh

I like the Bruins in 6 games. The way they are playing defensive will stop the Hawks from their long rushes and cross ice passing. They will constrict the Hawks offense and it will prove to much.

I like the Bruins as well. They are playing great.

I love what Fletcher has done with the Wild but watching Leddy here in game 1 I just have to ask again, What were you thinking Chuck?!?!?!

Very low, probably 2 feet lower than last year at ice out.

what do they look like this spring?
    • SkunkedAgain
I might have missed a guess, but here are the ones that I noted:   JerkinLips – March 27th, then April 7th Brianf. – March 28th Bobberwatcher – April…. MikeG3Boat – April 10th SkunkedAgain – early April, then April 21st   Definitely a tough year for guesses, as it seemed to be a no-brainer early ice out. Then it got cold and snowed again.

      No, that wasn't me.  I drive a 621 Ranger.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!
    • Brianf.
Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
