woody
While we still have lots of snow it doesn't look like we have much coming. The rest of the week the temps will be as high as 45 during the days and below freezing at night which will extend the season considerably. Pike action in front of shallow bays will heat up by the weekend and be going full force by the middle of next week. It will be a walleye and crappie bonanza too! Look for the ice to "pop" by April 10 or so. If it stays cold at night the landings will be good and we will be able to drive our vehicles to some great fishing or at the very least wheelers will work. Sincerely, Woody
1850 ashbay
What do you think the chances are that the snow is down enough on the lake that we can pull otters behind sleds by next wednesday??? Thanks!
woody
Hi Ashbay, I think the chances will be good although there may be a lot of standing water. There may also be a situation where you use wheelers if by chance the ice "pops". The snow took a beating yesterday and will for the next few days anyway but it is still freezing at night. If you plan on heading to your cabin for a few days you may want to consider what the conditions might be like for your return trip. 1850 ashbay
Good point about the return trip. I hadn't thought about that! Thanks.
woody
You might also be able to put screws in the back of your skis that will scratch the ice and spray the shavings into your slides.
bassbuster1
We have some pike fishermen in,they are finding a few pike nothing to big, they are heading out today to fish mouths of some shallow bays.Like Woody said the big females should be staging out in front of these bays getting ready for the spawn. The guys went 6miles down the lake yesterday they were al right till they got a little bit off the snowmobile trail, the have a wheeler with tracks on it and buried it. So be careful if you go off the trails, but there is some real good ice fishing coming up the next week or so. Bb1

Osty
Any chance to get around by ATV by Friday?
woody
Jaxdog, I think theres a good chance we will have fishable ice on the 20th as long as it keeps freezing at night. Otsy, we would have to lose a considerable amount of snow for atv's by the weekend. Sincerely, Woody
Osty
We will bring both and hopefully we can make it out to a few places! Crazy weather this year. Seems more like March. Might have to stick to some of the smaller lakes where we don't have to go so far. Will be trying to get out on Kab on Thursday. There are a few spots not too far off the ice road I'd like to hit. Hopefully we can at least drive on that with atvs. Thanks Woody!
