I want to see mankato go deep this year. Stephon Williams is gonna stand on his head this F5. Where's all the Maverick fans?

They're probably at work. I'm sure they don't know the hockey season runs this late into spring!

rofl, that was a good one! I'm hoping they make their best run in the NCAA's.

So much for Mankato's goaltender standing on his head. Wisconsin up 3-0 8 minutes into the game

Geez, with Bucky's stifling defense that game is already over.

Yeah I couldn't believe they beat Stephon that early. Then two more times in the coming minutes. Definitely a shocker. I figured it'd be a good game with Wisco playing well lately and scoring a lot vs. Mankato and their phenom freshman goalie.

Mavs stunk up the place today- they better get it figured out before next week - selection board might question their abilities going into next week- Williams had a terrible game on the big stage- Wisconsin has been playing tough the last eight weeks- they are a real threat to win the final five- anyways its fun to see Mankato still playing at this time of year- coaching change payed off at least in the regular season. Good luck to all the other teams still in it. cry

CC wins, too bad I was kind of looking forward to one last Gopher/Sioux game.

I can't believe I am admitting this but I actually was rooting for North Dakota so we could watch one more Gopher/Sioux game at the Ex!

Go Gophers! CC is playing for their season so it should be a good game, especially if CC gets on the board first.

CC and WI playing for everything, what do you say St Cloud should we crush those hopes and dreams.

St Clown has never had a killer attitude when something is on the line. I see them folding their tent very early in this one.

If Wisconsin scores first, the Husky fans should start filing for the exits.

Come on, its not like Bucky is that good. Not sure what happened to Mankato, nerves or whatever. St Cloud is a whole different level team. They split just a few weeks ago, so I see it being a competitive game. Go Huskies!

I was also bummed to see UND lose last night as I wanted to see a very entertaining game tonight.

I actually looking forward to seeing CC make a run for the Broadmoor. It would be a great story since CC has never won that trophy. Joe Howe is gonna have to play out of his mind to beat the Gophers. I think SCSU is heavily favored to beat the Badgers. Go Tigers

Badgers and Tigers playing well, it should make for some good/tight games.

I see Denver got hurt pretty bad in the PWR rankings when the lost to CC, wonder if UND will slide down? wink

Of course they will slide down. The only thing that matters is there season will go on...where as CC has to win the FF to get into the NCAA tourament

I havent run the predictors myself, but I have a feeling that if CC were to win the broadmoor that there is a pretty high chance that St Cloud doesnt make the NCAA tourney, I guess it could be Wisconsin for that matter too because they are two teams that wouldnt make the NCAA tourney without winning the Broadmoor.

Exciting.

A gopher/und game tonight would have been epic.

I strongly doubt SCSU has anything to worrry about in advancing. They are currently in a 3 way tie at 7th. Umass Lowell comparison is still intact no matter what the outcome. As are comparisons versus North Dakota, Mankato, and Western Michigan. They might flip vs Union, which would put them in a tie with Notre Dame and UND for comparisons won (11th overall).

It would be an almost epic event for a team winning a co-share of the MacNaughton to not advance to the tourney.

The team that should be worried right now is Mankato. They are ridin' the bubble. They potentially could flip comparisons with Niagra, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Union who are still playing.

I really am pulling for all 3 Mn schools to advance.

Guessing that NCAA will put The Sioux in the same region with the rodents. Possibly even first round match up. Anyone want to hazzard a guess as to who will get "drawn" to ref that game?

Actually both SCSU and Mankato look to be pretty safe after playing around with a pairwise predictor. With one far fetched combo I had SCSU on the outside looking in.

Really...SCSU isn't a lock yet? I have to check where Wisconsin sits in the "pairwise predictor".

You know I had to mess withe UND guys, ran the pairwise thingy a few times and the Sioux seems to move up without doing anything.

Putting Mn and UND in the same regional 2 years in a row would indicate this really is all about the $$. And I wouldn't bet against it. Choices are Grand Rapids, MI or Toledo, OH.

Any interest from UND fans in playing in Quinnipiac's bracket out

East?

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
