this weekends warm up

Recommended Posts

i was wondering how this weekends warm up will effect the fishing on LOW. i see it has been slow for some time, in the past is it typical for the fishing to get better at the beginning of the warm up or does it get better after a few days of constant warm up?

It's not so much the warming up, as the sun rising higher in the southern sky...which is the reason it's warming up.

As the fish sense the lengthening days they know it's time to prepare for spawning. Both pike and walleyes are spring spawners. Yes, the fishing will get better. The fish will gradually get more aggressive, and seek out larger meals to put on fat and energy for spawning.

Hit it right up there and you'll have days when you can't keep up with two lines. It's coming.

With LOTW, it's steady weather we need for good fishing. 3-5 days of steady weather, warm or cold, with a steady barometric pressure, and the fish will get much more active.

Spring Break Family Trip for us.

I am looking forward to the warm up. Going to be there over the weekend and into the week, i.e. catching on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, setting up for shallow water northerns on at least one of the days. Depending upon the local, close in bite, may even be taking the sleds up to the south shore of the angle for a day or two.

I remember several years ago when the temps got into the 50's, water running everywhere. Brian Voitalla from Riverbend took us out in track vehicles and in some places the water almost covered the tracks. People on the ice in tshirts throwing a football around, bbq gilles fired up, turn the furnace off in the house and kick some walleye butt. That was a crazy weekend. Hopefully we find that happy medium again before 90 deg temps.... cool

Yes sir!!! I love getting a sunburn while out standing out on the ice, wearing a t-shirt, watching for flags, reeling up fat golden delicious walleyes, grillin' brats, throwin' the football.

Bturk, that was probably me you saw up there!!! laugh Been a family ritual of ours for many, many years.

You wouldn't know it by standing in the driveway right now, but that sunburn weather is just a few days away!!! Woohoo!

I'll be up there thurs night, fishing Friday and Saturday, then back home for a few hours, and back up to Rocky Point on Sunday morning!!!!

Do any of you guys know about the late ice Sunday Arneson's Rocky Point deals? They'll take you out to a house, holes drilled, house heated, and even throw in a bucket of minnows, all for $40.00 per person for the day! All proceeds go to the local church. I like that.

That's a smokin' deal if you ask me. I just hate to miss church on Sundays...gotta bring my "book" up with me and do some reading between landing walleyes! laugh

Any time I'm up there no matter the day I'm always prayin, prayin for my bobber to go down.... cool Does that count toward Sundays? Thought maybe I could just keep rollin it forward, kinda like a balance in the prayer bank....

Ha ha ha....I suppose it counts. Not sure anyone is keeping score?

Nice thing about a cold Sunday in the fish house, you have a captive audience for Bible study.

I really do believe He's got a special place in His heart for faithful fishermen. He filled Peter's nets the first time He met him!!! smile

That's why I always bring my son, Peter, along with me! wink
