I read alot of the post about the marcum and the fl18, but nothing on the x67.Anyone know anything on this unit on how it compares to the others?

I have looked them over and have not been too impressed. I have a FL-18, so I really am biased. The transducer is hung on a rod that is only about a foot long. I was wondering if that would affect the transducer in deeper ice. You couldn't lower it below the bottom of the ice.

I too really didn't care for the ducer mounted on the steel rod.
It just dosen't seem very user friendly on the ice.
We will have to see how it performs out on the ice.
Any one out there actually try one yet?

I am also a Vexilar man, I really like my FL-18!

I asked this question in another forum I'm involved in, & got some good responses:

I'm hung between the Vexilar, MarCum, & the Lorwance, although CNY Tim is making a believer out of me on the LX-3.

I'm hoping to drive 8hrs to St Paul next week to get a look at all & pickup one, as well as a smaller Fish-Trap.

I can give you some insite on the rod mounted transducer, I used to have it on my zercom, I accentdently dropped the linkage down the hole one outing, it was probally the best thing that happened to this setup, now I can drop the ducer to the bottom of the ice, which is much better.

This whole discussion reminds me of the decision to add air-conditioning in our (very conservative) church about 15 years ago. It caused an up-roar, as a few people were very against it. We'd not had it in 150 years, why did we need it now? Those were the same people who now complain if it's a couple degrees too warm. . .

When you hear negative comments about something new, you need to ask yourself if the technology is "bad", or just "different". I suspect the Lowrance is different.

I'm a Ford truck owner, and am so satisfied with Ford, I'll probably never consider a Chevy truck, even though I suspect they make a good truck. I similarly suspect most Vexilar owners are so satisfied they'd never switch. It doesn't mean the Lowrance, of MarCum are bad products.

Just picked up my Ice Machine today. When I got it out of the box I set the metal rod aside and hung the ducer from the arm, same way the Zercom Colorpoints were.
I can not wait to get this on the ice, you got three different screens to choose from, flasher, graph, and split screen with movable zoom.
I got this because I needed a flasher and a new graph for the boat so I figure I saved $400 by buying one unit that will do both.
The guy at Thorne Bros said they have had Ice Machine on the ice a bunch of times and they are all very impressed.
Just my 2 cents.

I purchased the X67 primarily for Summer fishing and have been very impressed with it. this is the first unit that I really feel comfortable with what I see on the display. The color helps to define the fish and separate fish from bottom structure. It worked very well for me fishing suspended crappies in deep water, I could see fish from top to bottom in 34 feet of water. I have not used it for winter fishing yet but people that have, have said it is pretty nice.
