Marcum LXi

Thinking about buying the new Marcum lxi for the upcoming ice fishing season, is anybody familiar with this handheld depth finder?

I have a LX-i on its way and I'm anxious to use it. It has 1,000 watts of power and has a digital receiver. The battery has a 20 hour life span. It has a 12 degree cone and can read up to 299 feet in depth. I think it will save some time locating structure and desired depths/drop-offs.

It's also supposed to read water and outdoor air temps isn't it? Think I'll be picking one up real soon.

I'd be interested as well in hearing more about these units. They definitely look like they would be good for checking depths more quickly for drops, humps, etc. I'm curious as to how well they pick up a signal through the ice as compared to an LX-3?

I'm very happy with the Marcum LX3 so I'm sure the LXi will not be disappointing. Hopefully we can try them out real soon.

I see that you are from the Metro Area as well. Maybe we can make it out on the ice this winter and chase some fish. Check out the Metro forum for more details about events and such in the future.

MJ, FYI the LXi has 2500 watts of power. It comes in its own case. Its waterproof and it floats. Can't wait to get one...I'll be more efficient drilling holes because I'll find the spot beore I drill. I don't think you have to get the ice wet so I'll stay drier too.

How does MarCum Lxi compare with Polar Vision or Vexilar LPS-1? I am going to pick one up, and need recommendations.

Just used the LXi last weekend. Found my spot without drilling a pile of holes. Seems to save time and energy.

The Lxi can read the temp too? Cool! That's a pretty nice feature to have. 2500 watts of power!!! In that little thing? how? I am heading the the Marcom website to check this thing out.
