Inheriting guns?

Stick in Mud

Recommended Posts

Hello experts,

This is probably an ignorant question, but I haven't found a consistent answer online, so I'll ask it here:

What's the law regarding the inheritance of guns?

An uncle of mine just moved into a retirement home that doesn't allow guns. He's given me his Remington 870, a .22 rifle, and two revolvers, a .22 and a .44.

Apart from walking with him through the woods/fields while he chased squirrels, rabbits, pheasants, grouse, the occasional deer, and lots of chantrelles and morels, I've never hunted. I'm definitely going to give it a try this year (I'm just young enough to need the safety permit, so I've begun the online process for getting the gun safety permit).

I just want to make sure all's well.

Do not worry. Accept them in good grace and with gratitude. Then learn to handle and maintain them and enjoy using them on the target range before you try hunting.

Do not worry about the President coming to take them or pay any attention to those who spread that sorta nonsense.

Welcome to the outdoor and shooting world. Do it right, learn and practice, and you will have a life time of enjoyment.

Thanks for this thread. I was in the same boat as we inherited a 12 ga., .22 and a .38 from my wife's father. He lived in Washington State, obviously we're here. I wondered if we needed to register them, license them etc. and the info here backs up what I've been told. That, in the case of an inheritance, nothing need be done..unless you want to get a conceal-carry permit. Just go use and enjoy them.

Or you could come over here and chase ringnecks with me in NoDak and we'll actually see a few. wink

LOL. I think I might have to take BOTH of you up on those generous offers. Regardless of how many we see, I'm pretty sure it'll be a lucky pheasant if I take a shot at it. smile

I don't know, Eric. The extent of my up-to-now target practice (all of which was with a BB gun) has included missing more often than not the ever-elusive pop can perched on a stump. smile

Your perfectly fine nothing extra needed. Now keep them in the family and make it clear that they are never sold, that is the reason for inheritance they wanted to pass something along for the generations to follow. 2c

Police brutality is a concern right now in many areas, and everyone is working to safeguard their rights. But it is this situation itself that needs to be examined. Having knowledge of police brutality was really helpful to me. Try this at . There is a ton of information here https://supremestudy.com/essay-examples/police-brutality/ on it, which you may also examine in further detail huge learn more about. I hope it will be helpful to you

Finding between 3-7 inches of ice around most of the st cloud area. Was on one of the bigger lakes and one of the shallower ones in our area today. On the larger lake,  lots of ice in the bays, but main lake had roughly 3 inches where I checked.  The Shallow one had right around 7 inches.  Fish bit very well on one, and not so great on the other.

Polkiss this...   Logging is the only way out of the Smokey the Bear debacle. We've created so much fuel in the understory from fire suppression. Logging, BIGTIME may be the only answer. Top off the past century of fire suppression with now hundreds of thousands of acres of bug kill in our mature forests when as much as a bug farts, millions of acres lie waste to everything from fire, even micro organisms in the soil. Then heavy rain, or snowmelt washes away what's left...... Log Baby Log 👍👍 and flood the mills with wood, not ash.

many thanks to you all for providing the information.  it is appreciated.

Knowing and comprehending it myself For instance, logging has increased significantly over time. This can't possibly be permitted. I can speak for myself when I say that we now need to consider how to read about this essay [source] because I was able to learn a lot and even used this information to write a course at the university. Therefore, if anyone needs some knowledge about deforestation, it is useful from both a theoretical and practical point of view. Everyone must protect the environment!

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the safety tip.  Always good to know where springs in lakes are!  👍

Ok I did not check ice thicknesses yet but green, blue, baxter, lori, and elk all had anglers on them. I hope to check thicknesses soon.

There is also some springs in the way back of blue lake ( In nashwauk MN) If you go back there you may run into some if you go to the right or the left there is some both directions so I would suggest not going back there or if you do i would check the ice every 25ft or so at least have fun out there
