I have just started fishing Star recently. Im just a little curious as to what colors/jigs work better for sunfish and crappies? I havent fished a ton out there yet, but I havent noticed a difference really on what I put down the hole (it hasnt been great, it hasnt been terrible). What do they fish on the West arm near the bridge...Im assuming panfish.

It would be nice if we could get a little info about how people fish it in the winter.

I fished it for many years, that lake is starting to take a pretty good beating, south arm west arm any arm I've been there done that, it's pretty good overall though but vexilars etc. and people limiting out like crazy I have seen some size structure going downhill, luckily it's a large lake. The last straw for me was 1 night we got set up and a brigade of Iowa fisherman showed up 20-30 portables drilling like mad, and of course 30 feet away, that was my last effort there 3 years ago, good luck though, it's still pretty good I think.

Also got to remember that houses have until the 4th of March to be removed and maybe last sunday they were getting in their last walleye/pike run of the year and not panfish ? Who knows though, but I was never under the impression that the west arm was panfish water, back when I fished it we tried for walleyes and I'd still go there if it was good or better than the lakes closer to my home. You guys know how the walleye operate under the ice, get a few one day think you're gold and then get shut out and etc. Kinda wish panfish was done until open water, is star a 5 bluegill lake I believe, a ton of panfish get removed from now until walleye opener and with the technology and decent spring weather they take a serious beating in places. and often times day after day after day. But, keeps you motivated until walleye opens.
