Was planning on heading to Sunrise tomorrow to give it a try, its been a long time since I have been out there. Can anyone tell me if you can still get on the lake? I just heard that the guy that has the private landing isnt allowing anyone out any longer. Can anyone tell me if this is true, I would hate to get out there to find out I cant get on the lake. Thanks and happy fishing!

I remember getting that lake in the mid to late 80s before it went to everyone fishing it. It was like going to canada for the big notherns and I dont know where for the crappies and sunfish

Guess the guy who's run the pay access has been sick again. Couple years ago it was shut down all Winter too.

A break may help the sunnies get big again...

My first memories of ice fishing were on that lake when the first opened it.

The owner of the pay access has cancer and it's rumored he may open it back up this Spring.

Have you heard if he has it open this year? Do not mind paying a few buck or walking a little to get into some good pannies a few times in the winter.

I have seen that MnDNR has long term plans to implement a public access to the lake. That would make for one fantastic first year....

Well said! The lake is nothing like it used to be,but still gets hyped up enough that what is left will be eradicated.
